Thoughts on who will replace Garland now he has been placed on the long term injury list?

With Frost back soon to cover Garland I wouldn't mind seeing Tim Smith get a crack or maybe a smoky in Maynard?

I think its quite obvious Keilty or Tim Smith will be first in line. Keilty as he is a tall backman is ready to go and Smith to add another dimension to our forward line with his manic pressure and goal kicking ability.

I rate Tim Smith and he really deserves a chance.

I agree. Tim Smith would be a good choice and logical choice however I feel the decision makers may wait till they see how he goes in games with Casey now that he has six months under his training belt from the Demons.

There is no hurry to add a player to the Primary List.

No need to elevate anyone at this stage.  Wait until someone stakes a strong claim for senior selection through performances for Casey.

I'd say they'll be using to LTI on Garland for 2 purposes - as DOF mentioned there's no need at the moment because no-one is in line to play but also from memory there is salary cap relief for players on the LTI. So could be a long term list management decision and if T Smith/Keilty/White  bang down the door and warrant a spot it's available.

I never thought of it like that!

I hold high hope for Keilty but I wouldn't say quite obvious, as the coaches have consistently said that if you're not fit enough you don't play. Drunkn167 is a friend of Decs and he reckons maybe later in the year when he builds his tank a bit more.

On a side note, what is the word on Pat McKenna? Haven't heard much at all.

Surely will depend on needs and on form - wait and see.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
