No and no don't agree 

IMO Sam is about 6-8kgs of extra muscle from unleashing.

He will be a good player for us and with Jesse and Trac will give us the forward line to build around.

If Lever makes it to us, we are probably two fast, outside skilled mids, from being a very good side.

"Convo" = wild unsubstantiated speculation

Mate, WADR, that last sentence is ridiculous. Do you honestly think the club expects the Weid to holding down a KPF position in his second season with his frame? I'd think they hope at earliest this time next year and probably more likely 2019. He's not the type to mature early, more of a slow burn. Hitting his straps around the age of 24-25.

With the poor performance of our forward line in recent times plus Hogan and Watts out, yes he should be able to get into this team. He's not as small as people think, he's wiry but he's 96kg, what's Hogan? Can't hurt to let him learn rather than play in the VFL with windy, muddy conditions and poor disposal. I'd like to see him in, but that's just me. I'm a big Weideman fan also.

His weight is largely irrelevant, his strength is the more important consideration. Currently at AFL level he gets easily pushed off the contest or off his line. He lacks strength through the legs and core to hold his position like Hogan can. The AFL games he played this year are proof of that. 1 or 2 more preseasons and that will be different. I would be highly, highly surprised if anyone inside the club expected him to hold down a kpf post this early. We've seen some mouth watering glimpses, such as the big mark he took vs Carl earlier in the year. His time will come, we can both agree on that

Jury is out for me Mr Shadow. The only reason he is playing tomorrow is because we are really desperate for any sort of a tall forward. 

If he is useful tomorrow I will be surprised.

I have said it before Bbo I have seen nothing beyond an average VFL talent.

if we are to win tomorrow he needs to show he is an AFL talent. He does not need to kick a bag but he needs to have a presence on the ground. Up till now his AFL appearances have simply left us one short

I'm a fan of the kid as you know OD, however, I also see where you're coming from and I do think the club has handled his situation quite well this season.  Earlier in the year he was clearly off the pace, and he's spent a large chunk of the year back at Casey.  Over the last month in particular we've seen him improve and I think he deserves a second crack at it.

For our sake, and for his, let's hope he makes a positive contribution tomorrow.  God only knows we need it!

He's not fast, he's not holding his contested marks yet but showed he has a clean pair of hands when not getting pushed around by bigger bodies. He's crashed a few packs and created the loose ball and when watching him he seems to have courage in the air. He has missed a couple of sitters but seems to have a nice kick. In some games weideman has been clean below his knees and other times has fumbled.

Admittedly these observations have only been from his afl games, and a couple of televised vfl appearances. (Although that one half where he kicked 5 looked like he was playing above his experience)

Probably where you would expect a tall forward to be at, even maybe a fraction behind but that could be blamed on quality of ball coming into the 50 at vfl level, strong winds and inferior grounds.

 

In his draft year i was hoping for oliver and either weideman or curnow. Looking at the way Curnow moves accross the ground compared to weideman you could tell Curnow was the more mobile and the one that would have a sooner impact. But Curnow seems to be flying at the moment which i think is making some of us worry about Curnow vs Weideman and this is caused from past draft failures where it really hurt us. (Toumpas v wines, not interviewing martin, morton v everyone and if i recall blease or strauss before shuey )

But this time even if Curnow ends up better than sam, it wont hurt as much because in time he will still reach the status of reliable afl quality forward.

Facts are correct prior to Roos era our drafting was terrible along with poor development.....Even the best teams get it wrong e.g. Hawks took Thorp over Selwood..
