Best wishes to them.

Shows what belief can do.

Jeez they established a new standard today didn't they?

I looked at the players accepting their medals wondering how the hell they managed to pull it off with so many players not considered as stars.

They are the new benchmark, and deserve everything they got, especially considering their terrible injury run, and winning run of 4 finals.

What a team.

We have a huge amount of work to do before we can dare to dream like they did.

So proud of the Doggies. Such a proud club that has no excuses and continully bust there guts. Well done doggies.

The thread title is is wrong.

We could technically stink it up for a few more years before that honour.

i only have one club, MFC, but nothing but absolute respect and admiration for an unbelievable club performance that we witnessed this year from the bulldogs.

Relax max, see edit, took initial comment too literally.

Totally admire the dogs and congratulate them. It all just raises anguish for when we'll see success. Flagrant jelousy..

Yes, the title should have the adjective 'dubious' precede 'honour'.

Fair play.

Edited.

I know how to fix a 52 year drought. ......drink more beer and forget!

No where to hide now MFC

Hard work ahead. Only the players willing to sacrifice that extra will make it.

Beveridge started his career as a Demon under Swooper. He was a good player, not special.

But he sure knows how to get the best out of a bunch of kids ( with really bad haircuts)

Totally agree with this. They are so deeply embedded in the western suburbs community.

My sentiments exactly. The thing about Melbourne is that we've won 12, so I doubt you'd see the same universal support like you saw for the Bulldogs.

And I know I'm biased, but it'd be terrific for the game if Melbourne won another flag. It'd just mean another strong Melbourne club with a chance of becoming a powerhouse like Hawthorn have done. Then you'd have Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Melbourne. A big 6.

Well, I can dream anyway. That day is going to be bloody sweet though.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
