FA & Trade Whispers

I am astounded (albeit not surprised) that there are Demonlanders who are turning their noses up at a 40+ posession getter who kicks goals.
When was the last time a Demon got that many posessions? (Note* In a team who managed 3 wins for an entire season)

All because of "Attitude"???

We have all worked in a toxic working environment which we hated...It is pretty hard to be positive and happy when you are put in that situation.
And when we moved on from that bad working environment we improved our attitudes and our workflow and life flourished.

I can only speak from personal experience.

As for Clark, lol, I would be gobsmacked if they let him walk back through the doors.

The doors have been padlocked and bolted.

The club's strategy seems to be to back ourselves to develop our stars in house rather than pay a single player the "premium for moving" you need to get players to consider going.

True, and not saying it would happen, but if a player of Heeney's ilk indicated he might move, we'd be mad not to entertain a reasonable offer. All hypothetical of course.

If Heeney joined Melbourne, I would donate my body to Uncle Bitters to "experiment" on, in any way, manner or fashion that pleased him.

The Lions have handed over picks No.2, 31, 51 and 60 in exchange for pick No.3 and No.16 from GWS.

Could the delay with the Hibberd deal be preventing us from doing a pick deal as well?

That is an absolute bargain for Brisbane.

That was always going to happen.

Now GWS get one of the top 2 boys the two Macs, and Bombers not really in position to bluff them with Setterfield.

They also get points for Academy picks and Lions possibly still get the boy they want and 16 as the bonus.

Works out for both of them. GWS also now will almost certainly get McGrath and not have any problems with their academy picks.

It's farcical how much currency GWS have, given the other advantages they also have.

Someone said that GWS had to get rid of 10 players this year as 2017 rules were changed. I hope there is someone we would like.

It (Clark back to Melbourne) was mentioned on SEN as an idea, but not in any way as a genuine possibility or even rumour.

It started because of a text I sent in to KB in jest, not as a rumour.

I thought it funny how Clark said he loved Geelong, he said something similar about Melbourne.

Seems people will jump on anything...

Do you mean because GWS would be less likely to use 2 than 3 on Setterfield if Bombers called their bluff? Or that Brisbane may have called their bluff at 3 if the Bombers didn't?

It's certainly a good deal for Brisbane.

Does Patfull count as one that have ditched? Given they have torn up his contract and plan to put him on the rookie list. Which my understanding was that this as completely against rules but you know... The AFL lets them do as they please.

we're in the position to do it, Hogan has re-signed, we've got all our good young players locked away, we'll have two strong first round picks next year and we can offer significantly more money than the Swans can, and i think in all likelyhood both Melbourne and Sydney will be top 8 teams next year.

if not Issac Heeney, Josh Kelly or Nat Fyfe or someone like that.

we are ready to bring in a genuine A grader.

heeney has the potential to be THE player of the comp. i am not sure that two first rounders would do it?.. maybe two and then an established quality player on top. they will build their club around him. absolutely LOVE to have have him at the dees though.. i would almost contemplate any scenario player-trade wise to get it done. with the only exceptions being hogan, gawn, viney & either petracca or oliver being off-limits.

To be honest I think they did it to ensure that Bombers were stuck with 1, knowing they won't risk bluffing and that they probably want McLuggage anyway. That would ensure they get their man McGrath or at worst McLuggage and still get their academy picks cheaper.

If Bombers bluff, I believe GWS will call it and force them to take Setterfield and they get their man anyway and Lions would pounce on McLuggage.

It is frightening how good GWS could become and how many advantages they have been given.

Swans are now negotiating with Heeney for a long term extension. He stays.

He is obviously off the primary list, but I don't understand the Rookie business, unless they mean they will rookie him, because of something to do with his contract.

Love these deals..... guarantees the player the money notwithstanding form and injury but under current practice the player can walk to his preferred club at any time.

A real win/lose deal..... time for some balance away from the players.

Don't begrudge the player getting long term security but it has to cut both ways.

That leaves Brisbane with pick 21 then a gap to pick 78?  And they have to get their Frost deal done.  Does not look promising for getting any meaningful Dunn deal dunn.

Agree. Swans will however never let him go.

Interesting that that swap of picks with the Lions now means that GWS have 8 picks going in to the draft. They may well do more trading to reduce this. But the new rule clearly states a club cannot trade and end up with more picks than vacancies on their list. This was to stop the stockpiling of cheap, later picks to use on academy players. And don't GWS have to reduce the number of players on their list next year by 2?

Bit of a gamble, but there might be a GWS give away or fire sale of picks/players with a day to go in the trade period.

They were out of contract when they were rookied. This would be the equivilant of rookieing Garland now despite him having contract time to run. Patfull has "retired" so they could break his contract and redaft him as the rookie.

Ahhh gotcha, I thought he'd finished his contract and retired. Wasn't there a rule brought in about players retiring to change clubs? Surely this would be part of that somehow?

SEN just said there is some talk around Oli Wines... more to come..

The media seems to be running the line 'poor Collingwood' as the comp picks the AFL have given out make it harder for Coll to get its father/son picks (Brown and Daicos) as those comp picks have reduced the draft points their picks now attract.

Hello, it is the ridiculously generous offers that Collingwood gave Wells and Mayne that caused the AFL comp picks to be so high.

They only have themselves to blame!  Sheesh!

ANB and our 1st round pick next season should get it done
