I'll give you the perfect answer about racism Stuie, I asked Nev about the Eddie Betts incident, did it make him angry, his answer "yes it did, but as Eddie said every indigenous person is used to it from the day they are born"

That makes it ok then...

I would argue that a comedian can discuss any subject matter they like.

It's their job .

You are out of your depth Stuie , as usual.

I'll post on whatever thread I deem appropriate but we all tire of the implications you make assuming people are racist or bigoted or sexist.

You are too busy spotting witches to burn to join in a discussion in any meaningful way.

You response of calling me a "whiner" anytime I comment about racism or sexism gives a pretty clear indication of your character.

No Stuie, that's my point, it doesn't matter how much us whitefellas try and stomp it out, it will probably continue to exist, not on my part though, never has and never will

So you just give up?

My attitude is that I can't be offended for POC, but if clear racism is there I will call it out and not just stand by watching.

It doesn't have to exist, and education can eventually whipe it away. My best mate who is an Indigenous artist, speaker and educator travels the world teaching exactly that, and his attitude is exactly like what we heard from Betts, he just wants peace between people and education.

I have discussed this a few times with Nev, unfortunately and despite the multi cultural nature of our society now, racism has existed in Australia since the First Fleet, and will continue to do so, it exists in all societies, in different forms, being a 'whingeing Pom" tells me that

Do you want some Cheese with that Whine?

You have no idea about my views on theses issues.

I'm more talking about the way you debate them, which leads to cliched thinking and doesn't ever break new ground.

David Brent hated racism and Sexism as well.

Yet black people and women in the office still found him creepy because he was so adamant that his views were on the right side public opinion.

You're our David Brent.

But looking how far things have come surely must tell you that with continued education and continued effort it can one day be totally gone.

You have to believe that, otherwise what's the point?

We should all join hands and re-educate to Stuie think?

Get out the guitar and we can fix all these bad thoughts people might have by singing a HAPPY song!!!

Yeahhhhhh for Stuie-  he made all the bad people go away and now there are only good!!!

Look, not saying it's going to happen anytime soon, but was only a few generations ago that slavery existed, and even less that POC couldn't drink from the same water fountains as whites. It's a slow progression, but surely worth it?

You can see from this very thread how bitter and immature people are still fighting against it, but these days they just troll on the internet, rather than set buses on fire and hang people from trees. Progress.

Er Stuie slavery still exists chap, unless you are talking about the branch of slavery which was the African/American, you have rebels capturing women to be sex slaves, rich Americans in the south employing illegal immigrants on slave wages, even the intern program at some large accounting firms (sorry couldn't resist), clothing factories in both the Phillipines and the sub continent, you really need to get out more

Legal slavey, you mean children for Northern India and Bangla Desh being 'sold' to owners of clothing factories, or girls from the outlying Phillipine islands having the same thing happening to them to make the NIke and Adidas runners we all like wearing

Yes, all which is against the law, that's my point.

Or they just bang on like a broken record and think that makes them Marltin Luther King Jnr reincarnate.

You're a naive twerp and I doubt you have any real problems like this(racism) in your part of Melbourne.

I think they set crosses on fire, refused to let people sit in the front of the bus and hung people from trees( as a point of clarification).

My issues are with your lack of nuance and your false implications like those above, not your cause/s de jour.

You make me cringe although I'll confuse you by telling you categorically that I abhor racism.

Can you deal with the complexity of that? I'm anti-racism but I can't stand you being on the same side as me of the issue because you argue your points like a corny,American teen in a lame TV show,or David Brent.

Yes, and it will continue to happen, because even if we have a revolution, whoever gets into power realises there is money to be made.

Me I love having a chat to the socialists who hand out leaflets in Bourke St Mall or spout forth outside the State Library, ah the naivete

Feel free to look up the history of the "Freedom Riders" re: bus set on fire.

Not sure what "nuance" you want about racism, but if you're using "nuance" as a means to find ways to pardon your own bigotry then maybe you're finger pointing in the wrong direction.

And how manly of you to argue for racism simply because someone you don't like on the internet is against it. Your character shining through once again.

You're not "complex" or "nuanced", you're just another troll.

I wasn't arguing "for racism" you imbecile.

"Nuance" was referring to your lack of it.Nothing to do with nuanced racism, which I'm aware you tired to confuse it with.

I'll repeat again for your clarification,I'm not a bigot,nor sexist .

You lack the wits to see how chauvinistic you are.

Not all white men are racist because Stuie declares it thus.

As for Troll, get the F... away from my bridge .

No corny dimwitted cliche riddled twits may pass!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
