In a separate but related question, why can't the MFC and the Scorps arrange it so that the Melbourne players use their MFC jumper numbers as their Casey jumper numbers? There might be a transitional problem in the short term but it would be easy to administer if Casey's own players were all given numbers from 50 upwards. Both clubs need to recognise that the alignment requires marketing and part of that is making it easier for Casey followers to recognise who the players are. That becomes easier if all the Melbourne listed players use numbers that the public are more likely to recognise.

Maybe I'm going blind, but I looked at every post in the thread & the numbers the MFC players wear on their backs at Casey weren't anywhere.

That's exactly what I was thinking La Dee!   ..or at least have the MFC players Casey #'s up there with the Casey players.   Why have people have to go to major hassle to recognize the MFC players in a poor quality video.

I texted my mate who plays for the Collingwood VFL side and obviously played against him on the weekend, asking how is he to play against and this was his reply:

"honestly, he is a beast of a human. He could play inside mid and a mid forward as he was taking pack marks and also getting clearances. Honestly he is something you should be very excited about, he is very hard to play against."

For the record, that last Melbourne player he played against that he sent me a text message like that about was none other than Jesse Hogan.

It's like Xmas, but your parents put the tree up in October. You can see the big shiny present next to the tree, you know it  is the sparkling bike you wanted, you can see it but just can't touch it yet!

I like letting the Casey players retain the low numbers. Give the MFC players their MFC number+50 (so Petracca 55, Trengove 59 and so on). It means doing a quick subtraction in your head, but it's better than total randomness.

Besides, who *wouldn't* want to see Terlich running around in number 96?

He's had quite a slow start to the season while playing predominantly forward, necessitated due to his fitness levels, and hasn't had much of the footy. 

If you're picking them purely as a midfielder, then of course Brayshaw is picked over ANB, but I'd rather see Brayshaw play half back than half forward if he's not on the ball.

Brayshaw looks rusty to me yet he kicked one and gave away two - ( slipped a pearler of a handball to give Pedersen his first, and a lovely kick to Tyson's advantage to mark and goal)

It's great that some of our bigger names performed well against C'wood, but it's also fantastic that a few of the lesser lights did well.  Joel Smith was obviously impressive and seems to be coming along at a much faster rate than I expected.  My initial thought was that he would spend the first half of the season in the Development League.

"Jack Trengove: Jack had 20 possessions, eight tackles, three clearances and kicked a goal. Trenners played a little bit on the wing, inside fifth and sixth."

It might be obvious to others, but can anyone enlighten me about what "inside fifth and sixth" means?

High flanker pushing up and playing as an extra midfielder?? Only a guess.
