This is one of the saddest pieces of news I've heard in recent times.  Ross Hannaford formerly of Daddy Cool, Billy-T, Paul Madigan and the Humans etc etc, has passed away after losing his battle with cancer - he was 65.  A truly lovely person and a brilliant musician.

A gig i cut for Ross Hannaford

In the late 70's I used to go regularly to the Tiger Room (at the Royal Oak Hotel in Bridge Street Richmond) to watch Paul Madigan and the Humans playing... the band comprised Paul Madigan with Ross Hannaford, Wayne Duncan and Freddie Strauks.  They were hilarious and it was worth going just to watch Madigan baiting the boiler suited feminist brigade of the time.  Ross Hannaford would play the entire show with a look of genuine amusement on his face from go to woe.

I was privileged to go the benefit concert they had for him at Memo in StKilda towards the back end of last year. The room was awash with "orange" being his color of choice during his later years.

Lots of muso's came out to support him and the outpouring of love for the man that night was palpable.

He played a couple of songs and as frail as he was, his guitar work was magic.

RIP Hanna...another great one gone too early

I'm pretty certain Ross was a follower of the Rajnish faith (otherwise known as the orange people) back in the day... possibly around the time he had the band Billy-T going.  I might be wrong, but that's how I remember things.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
