Posters have expressed their view that the matter is a non event and not worth the oxygen it's getting. Fairly reasonable, it must be said. "So don't watch" is a cop out reply. What are you going to do if they watch? Hold your breath?

You're really clutching at straws to try and have a crack at me now aren't you? Keep trying troll.

You really don't like anyone with opposing views do you Stue? (rhetorical, btw)

I thought the poster's comments were reasonable. They think it's hardly newsworthy anymore, you have an obvious fascination with footballer's extramarital affairs and who is at fault. Each to their own.

Ahhhhhhh Moonie. You used to be somebody didn't you? You used to think for yourself. Now you're just a BBO Stepford wife and not even slightly interesting.

I'm going to put you on ignore now as I'm here to talk footy and not engage with trolls who like to latch onto a stronger personality and follow them around which you're clearly doing with me now that BBO isn't around for you to live vicariously through.

Goodbye little man.

Thank god for that!

I think the thing that would stick in Stevens mind is did they cheat on him the night he was rushed to hospital with the glass incident, it was his best mate must've been hard to swallow comes across as a good guy

His life was destroyed give him a break FFS. If someone had a hand in destryoing my marriage id have a grudge too.

Not just someone - best mate.

If a random (consensually) slept with my wife, I'd blame her but not him. It's not up to a stranger to uphold or honour my marriage. If it were my best mate I'd apportion blame equally. It's a whole different kettle of fish.

Even just thinking about that magnitude of betrayal makes me dizzy.

Then there's Geelong

and Sydney... according to rumours.

Carey was married too. Plus Carey has still never apologized.

So that makes you perfect. You sad Wonka.

Right, so you have to be perfect to not cheat on your wife with your best mate's wife?

You really are a lowlife.

Yeah, that Sydney rumour (and variations on it) ive heard from 3 different sources today. It's certainly building momentum.

Interesting few weeks ahead I'd think.

I heard this today.... Surely not i thought but then, again who knows!

Me too. I'm thinking there has to be an element of truth to it amongst all the codswallop.

if you were not Stevens, but were one of the children,,, who would you blame, the most ?

I heard it the morning the news broke from someone I have no reason to doubt.

I think the issue for any club in implementing a recruiting strategy is about how to get better on the field while being able to mitigate the issues off field (given that not all footballers enjoy sitting down and making model airplanes in their downtime).

Due diligence is actually risk management, the Swans famously have their 'bloods culture' one of no DHs allowed. When they decided to recruit Buddy they would have done the sort of risk management process that weighed up the off field risks (likelihood and consequences) against the rewards (proven KPP performer with relatively few injury concerns). They paid a very hefty financial premium for his services (another risk) in the hope that the reward (another premiership) would justify the outlay. The warning signal for me would have been his attraction to the 'Bondi lifestyle' and the NRL clique that comes with it. Were his off field behaviours likely to improve or worsen in this environment, and what controls if any could the club put in place? The Swans decided the reward was worth the risk - have they compromised their culture by doing so? From the get go there were rumours and innuendo and concerns about his influence on impressionable players - Hannebery As it happens his other associated off field behaviours may have combined to form a perfect storm that see the Swans loaded with a DH with a 'toxic' contract and a bunch of very unhappy teammates (likelihood and consequence - probability and statistics - you can only defy the odds for so long) Now footy clubs will do what footy clubs do in terms of smoothing the waters, but the churn underneath is whether the situation continues to fester and further undermines the culture.

This thread obviously no longer has anything to do with its title.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
