There's the old adage....There's what you say, and there's what you do !!"

It's not beyond reason to suppose a lot of club's current info on players is made up of scouts reports, recruiting observations etc There'd be some interviewing etc but In many instances only a cursory delving into the real 'person'. Events like this raise a flag....or should .

i would have thought it goes much deeper than that and that a myriad of people would be involved. If you are a questionable human being then it's pretty hard to conceal it in the fishbowl environment of the afl. I am sure that all due diligence is carried out here

Well that's two that won't be reading my reports, anyone else?

yeah, me :) im sure they are devastated, their lives will never be the same

I'll have a crack at what Bruiser's report might be like:

Hello everyone, except DA and Wiseblood.

Just arrived at training and the sun is already beating down. My head will be like a baked potato by the end of this session due to my tin foil hat.

Goodwin just walked past Roosy and spoke to McCarthy, could be some bad blood there, I'm predicting a surprise take over at the end of the year. I might give Roosy the heads up.

Terlich just kicked a ball 4 metres over Jetta's head. Simple skill error - or is it? Terlich knew Roosy was watching, he made Jetta look bad on purpose, not marking that ball in front of Roosy could get Terlich the nod come round 1.

Just spoke to Jesse Hogan, said he loves the club, loves living in Melbourne and really loves Goodwin and his teammates. Will definite leave for Fremantle IMO.

Anyway, gotta go, guy in a suit just rocked up, looks like Peter Jackson, but that's what they want me to think!

Stop deflecting. Where's your proof?

Once again you just add to the dribble it's obvious the guys hit his head so why embarrass him even more. Edited by Middymalt

yyou're right as such. I glossed over the depth of review but no one will be watching them all the time.Theyll really only concern themselves with things at a football level and cursory regard to the personal lives unless something has flagged them to do so. The resources to do otherwise are prohibitive.

Sometimes the first you know of deviations such as these are when presented in your face.

Parents can live with kids and not know half the things that they're up to. I'd be very impressed if footy clubs knew better.

Firstly, this thread is about Charlie Curnow. The bloke made a big mistake overnight and Roosy's Bruisers made the claim that it's some sort of conspiracy and got his knickers in a twist when we disagreed. I asked him for proof of this conspiracy and he ignored it. I'm just asking him to answer the question.

Secondly, he doesn't need any help from me to embarrass himself.

And thirdly, it's little surprise that your only contribution to this thread is to take a thinly veiled swipe at me, which is ironic because you cry about it when others do it to you.

There you go Wiseblood - the sound of crickets as my proof.... Look at all the people coming out and saying they don't appreciate my views.

Anyone else?

Gee, I think you're underestimating the protection the tin foil hat provides, Middy.

Back to Curnow...

Doing such a thing three days from the draft is clearly not ideal and reflects incredibly poorly on the bloke's intelligence.

It seems strange that so many on here believe we'll be taking him given the way our club now recruits.

It's been fairly well publicised that one of the more important attributes we look for in a player is their character and personality and I find it very difficult to believe we'd take a player like Curnow at pick 3 or 7 because he lacks in that particular area.

I am not doubting his talent as a player, although I don't share the 'hype', but again, if you look at the state of our list and the type of players we're bringing in who will eventually become the fabric, Curnow certainly doesn't fit the bill for us at a top 10 pick.

Still hoping Parish and Weideman will be the ones.

No you supposedly don't, but I know that you'll be secretly reading them.

I hope Charlie is taken care of in all of this because whether or not we draft him or not, the media have not done the right thing by him and that's not acceptable in my view.

It's going to be hard for him to rock up and take center stage on Tuesday night with all of this surrounding him - I feel for the kid.

and what have the media done?

all i've seen is basically reporting the bare facts.....not much else

at least until now

The only (im) plausable thread that supports Roosy's claim of a conspiracy, would involve him trying to join his brother at Carlton by being taken with their pick 12...

Long shot, and a bizarre way of attempting to do it if there is any truth to the claim.

When faced with a choice between self-destructive incompetence and a conspiracy, i generally believe the former...

yeah but what do you do when brown bags are a thing of the past ?

If you were going to try and lower your draft ranking, wouldn't you just tank the physical testing and interviews rather than get drunk, go looking for cops, and give yourself a record....

Well, yes.

Unless ....

There's nothing to suggest it's concocted by the club looking to draft him.... there are other motives at play.

Probably most bizzare thing i have ever read on here.

RB i'll be reading any reports you post.

But please spare me with any sympathy for Curnow. One he'not a kid. Two he put other peoples lives at risk for drink driving and failing to stop at a stop sign. He's got no one but himself to blame.

He deserves all he cops.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE
