I have no doubt that a lot of people who are booing are racist, another good chunk are just doing it as they know it annoys him but then there are also people who just don't like the man and boo him for that. All top players have copped boos at some point in time. My issue at the moment is that anyone who boos is considered racist, no matter what their actual reason is. My mate is a sydney supporter and he boos him, not because he is racist but for the fact that he has met Goodes on multiple occasions and he has tells me that he was rude to his wife.

You can't dislike someone anymore. If they have any colour skin, religion, sexual preference that is different to yours, you cannot dislike them as you are deemed racist/homophobic etc and that has to be the reason for the dislike, not that they could be flogs/idiots/rude etc. I use an example of a woman I work with, she is rude to clients, gets messages wrong and just has a bad demeanor in the workplace, she also happens to be gay. If I voice that I don't like her, it's because I am apparently homophobic, not the fact that I believe she is just not a nice person.

The problem I have with explanations like this is that the context has shifted. Incidental booing of Goodes if he stages for a free, or plays to the umpires, or flattens some bloke is fine, just as it would be directed against any other player.

But what you are excusing by raising a litany of 'reasons' is an institutionalised booing that is not about what is going on the ground at the time of the booing. It CAN be seen as racist and therefore it should stop simply because of that perception.

If that is misconstruing the reason for some people, the truth is that it is racist for a significant proportion of those indulging themselves.

Why aren't you calling me racist for booing Brent Harvey?

What a joke hahahaa

Boomer doesn't get booed week in week out. Even if he did, who says the reason would be the same?

Try and get your tiny mind around that.

Doesn't seem like you have to deal with that problem anyway radar.

when people boo good white players, it's tall poppy syndrome.

when people boo good aboriginal players, it's racism.

whatever.

Goodes has a wide selection of reasons to hate him. Racism is in the very small minority.

A lot boo him cause Goodes is a f.log

You are a fool hh.

Goodes has played 370 games, won 2 brownlows, 2 premiership medals, countless AAs and Bob Skilton medals and won a Rising Star. One of the finest players in the last 20 years. I wish we drafted him.

And you boo him? Unbelievably stupid.

So as constructive discussion/criticism of the 'loonie left.,ABC, whatever Ali' and so on people make their case by bullying someone through collective cow noises who has expressed hurt in that regard?

oh please, this thread needs closing as it is going to spiral into even more BS about "he's rude, he's a diver, he whinges, he didn't deserve AOY". God help us if this is where the mentality is still at in this country.....plain and simple, if you stand at the ground like a pathetic sheep and boo this guy, you are either a redneck simpleton or a racist. To claim that a crowd full of opposition supporters would waste their time standing up and booing for any other reason is absolute shizen and you all know it.

91/2 hours have passed and unfortunately, this thread should have been closed as nothing good has come from it....some people will always claim to be non-racist whilst exhibiting racial sentiments; dare I recall a certain Pauline Hanson? if you have the time to defend this type of behaviour here, maybe donate some of your time to a worthy cause like the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation - you may find it the most rewarding thing you ever do....

get back to the woeful MFC predicament people, it seems to unite your love/hatred of something universally without being too confronting

i think that might be a strawman argument moonie (and i think you plagiarised it from your guardian link)

i could name a number of more successful people in history who ended up unpopular and even in ignominy but why bother

Similar thing happening in the US at the moment. Trump is leading the polls, not because he is a good guy, but more so as a reaction to the left.

I think people are getting sick of being told what to think, how to feel, sick of being shouted down when they don't agree.

What on field incidents are specifically a crock of [censored]?

Blatant and repetitive diiving, sniping, faking injury. all those [censored] things nobody likes in our game. there are others but he has been a serial offender and like it or not, some people will jump on that. He's brought this on himself. like i said PR nightmare is Adam Goodes

and calling everyone who boo's racist isn't? hmmmm

So you know what each and everyone's motive is when they boo.

Absolute rubbish. He's regarded as a champion of the game and won Australian Of The Year. Keep up redneck.

Rednecks is pretty offensive. ironic.

Stats taken from that bastion of eternal knowledge Wikipedia actually dc. Doesn't matter where the facts came from. Goodes has had a fantastic career and is a champion. To boo him is small minded and pathetic. How many multiple brownlow winners get booed on the field to such an extent? I have no doubt there are racial undertones for some, most however are simply dumb sheep.

This thread is so predictable, like a number of previous threads on Goodes.

Some of it is definitely that. Its a response saying we don't give a [censored] about what color he but we are sick of being told what we can and can't think.

I haven't and won't boo good Goodes - i can't be stuffed and i don't think its necessary but my whole stance on this has been in regards to the above point. To blanket all people as racist because the target is brown is just wrong and also a very worrying shift in society.

I've heard similar 'Red'...

again the AFL (Eddie in this case but the AFL are in it up to..) have come unstuck trying to stage manage incident, spin the message and manipulate the public.

This is now out of control and it's in a big part their own fault.

I'm shocked......

Feel free to point out where i made those quotes in your signature also.

I'll give you a thousand dollars if you can prove I wrote them.

I thought Mitch Clark was your fave sensitive tough guy.

Now you are a Goodes man.

If you just stopped arguing against the far-left for a second Munga and thought about it in terms of what is actually happening and how that makes another individual feel, do you continue to support ideology over ethics and feel good and noble about your stance to defend it?

Can I just break this down, whats the difference between Grinter, Rhys Jones, Hird (if I recall used to get booed a heck of a lot cos he was so damn good- as a football), umpires (those poor bastards on Sunday)... like who gives a [censored], Goodes fakes free kicks, hes an attention seeking f wit who is a good footballer that goes with it, someone hurts my feelings every week following our sorriful club, but I keep coming back please people get a grip
