Collingwood lose by 91 and the Giants lose by 89.

It happens to young(ish) teams when there's nothing to play for.

I genuinely believe our talent is greater than some believe and I look forward to a 10 (+) win season in 2016.

Well said. Two sides, out of finals contention, got smashed by two sides pushing hard for a Top 4 spot. Just like us last week.

But serious questions had better be asked of Leon Cameron and Bucks though.

Don't think we're anywhere near the same boat as Collingwood or GWS though. Getting smashed in the last 3-4 games of the season isn't exactly going to help a team with such a ridiculously fragile confidence and culture.

Their loss is worse then. They have something to play for and get blown off the park. Not a good look.

I just think today puts into perspective how over the top people went with the loss from last weekend. It was bad, yes, but not wrist slashing, question everything sort of stuff.

Yes but it's not meaningless. Just like tomorrow's game isn't meaningless. Which is what is being indicated by the "oh well, we're not playing finals anyway" mindset.

Culture and confidence. Are ours really considered strong enough to not care about any games?

What he is saying is that the amount he is being paid is irrelevant, and unless you have a flux capacutor and a DeLorean you can't go back and appoint someone else to compare how they would be doing in comparison to Roos. There are also about a billion facets of this discussion that we as supporters cannot be aware of. Regardless, he is coaching one more year and one more year only so the discussion is a complete waste of time.

Its not a complete waste of time and I have never said we should not have paid Roos the money. What I have said if you bothered to read the posts (which you are normally pretty good at) is that we are right to be asking questions about Roos. A senior coach who has trouble getting his players up for game day. Then he comes up with lame excuses like ' the players must think they are already in Bali' or 'gee, we weren't expecting that'. Frankly it pizzes me off that a senior well respected and well paid coach doesn't articulate what he thinks is wrong or worse still articulates that he doesn't know what is causing our pathetic lapses.

Yes but let's say you are correct and the bloke is a complete hack who is doing nothing to pull our club out of the mire - of what purpose is it to 'seriously question' him? Nobody would suggest axeing him now, and we know there is no possibility of extending his tenure so what's the point in scrutinising him, especially when (as I said) there is just SO much to take into consideration and unknown variables we cannot possibly be aware of - for example, how much influence is Goodwin CURRENTLY having? Is his influence making Roos look better than he would be or is it making him look worse? What about the fact we have had 8-10 injured every week all bloody season, is anyone taking that into account at all? My point is that there are so many more factors at play than meets the eye, it just seems so moot to be questioning Roos like this at this stage, when he will be gone soon enough regardless.

But it's also not "every" game. Young sides can come out when they're up and have great results in the last few rounds. Conversely, the opposite can occur.

The best game of "football" I've seen from a team wearing the red and blue since '94. Apart from Morton chasing tail of the Aussie of the Year. The critics said we were trying to hard to be Geelong. Maybe true but it was beautiful to watch.

Yeah i was there with a mad bloods fan, hed never seen them pantsed like that since the early 90s and was Roos worst loss with the Swans. What a tease that turned out to be!

I also remember round 2, 2011 when we played an exciting first half against Hawthorn and led by about 3 goals going into the main break.

Alas, we were all attack and no defence and couldn't match it in the second half. Bailey coached sides could look like millionaires against rabble or out of form interstate teams, but lacked the defensive element that stands up in finals.

Id be interested to know if the really hardcore critics of Paul Roos would want him to stay on at the MFC in another role when hes done coaching?

There is more to the Bailey era than "we looked great in attack" or "we lacked defence". Those outlooks ignore the fact that the list was a shambles with no leaders, that we had been left behind in the massive cultural shift of the AFL which went from the 90s where success was built around individual stars who did their own thing and played like millionaires to the 2005 onwards era where it was team first, foot soldiers working hard together to a plan. We were caught 5-10 years behind that shift. Everyone else became modern professionals while we were still stuck in the 90s. We were never going to make it without instilling that change.

So that's meant to make it ok for us to not care about these "meaningless games"?

You can care about what you want, Stu. It matters little to me ... and I suspect others.
