GAME DAY - Round 16

Good mark Howe deep defense...then thrown to ground. No 50!

Jeffry. Horrible miss after a great buildup

Great tackle Neville. Incorrect disposal not penalized.

zorilla free in the back the same as JKH penalized for HTB

SO BLOODY INCONSISTENT

Christensen throw - in the back. Horrible decision maggot

This game is having a rudiculous amount of stoppages

Great tackle Vanders

AFL obviously got in the ear of the maggots at quarter time to protect their northern state investment.

Loss of momentum stemming from Leuenberger turning it on this quarter and winning most of the taps.

Gawn needs to be more consistent.

Even if we have our usual 3rd quarter meltdown,I still can't see us losing to this sh*ty Brisbane side.

Defence (with TMac) fantastic that half. Inside 50 count is only 24-18. Dunn and Jetta outstanding.

Spot on, Gawn was making him look second rate earlier.

He is in for a long day, I think Martin will take ruck duties in the second half.

Exactly, yes he's made some errors but he's taking the game on, something we we're need.

He is hesitant. He should take the game on, but he doesn't. He looks like he could, but he second guesses himself.

I have no doubt he can play, but I disagree that he is taking the game on. He isn't.

Gawn is playing a much better game today. Faded a little bit in that first half, but his tap work far more constructive. Glad to see it. He really adds a lot to our midfield. Now to play four quarters.

They have doubled our clearances....

Jack Viney is very quickly becoming my favourite player. Keeping Rockliff very quiet, but still doing a lot of his own work in close and getting a bit of the ball.

Mark Slobinson might have been on the money when he said Roosy was groomingn another Brett Kirk.

Bears firming for a priority pick handout from their owners, the afl commission.

They truly do look horrible.

Will be uproar if they get one after our last couple of rejections

Harmes looks like a solid player

Id sub in ANB for Lumumba or JKH sooner rather than later

Keep it going Dees

We've said it before, but gee Watts will be a weapon in a good side.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
