Once again, 10 out of 10 to Mark and Ash for their efforts.

And those with mailed copies send the bucks in now.

Its for the Club and Mark's and Ash's efforts have been voluntary.

I think they deserve your support and diligence.

Much to my embarrrasment, I haven't read this thread for ages ('cos I know how good Robbie was!)

Is it too late to get a copy of the DVD?

My kid's have never seen footage of the great man play (and this big kid would like to relive his childhood)!

I was just about to send off a money order to the Demonology/Demonland fund for "disadvantaged" supporters. Is that the sort of payment you are asking for?

Well, i'll try and get the dvd in the next week but not 100 per cent sure of how to upload it to torrents. Is it the same as using imesh or limewire where you just share folders? Lert me know & I'll try to get it up for you ASAP? Always willing to help a fellow demon.

Any luck getting your hands on a copy mate?

A little late for this thread but being an old fart I can't separate Barass and Robbie Flower.

Both dynamic in their own ways and each provided inspiration and leadership in every game they played.

When I saw Barass, (Lord tap to Barass, bump, handball to Bluey Adams etc) I always thought he was playing for the memory of his lost father; he was stamping the ground and was taking no prisoners.

Robbie on the other hand played through pure skill, balance and talent rarely equalled.

The point is, sometimes grit and determination can equal god's given gifts.

Dead heat in the Melbourne Championship Stakes.

[One of the most skilfull players I can remember since the early 60's. What Geoff Tunbridge did some of the time, Robbie did all the time. If he had a weakness, it was the set shot at goal in a real pressure situation. Otherwise he was the epitome of grace on a footy field.

I have to disagree with you there on one instance about Robbie Flower's kicking for goal from a set shot in a real pressure situation.

As a Footscray supporter I vividly recall the Round 3 clash of 1981 at Footscray.

Robert Flower taking a strong mark(it could nearly have been described as a screamer) deep in time on with Melbourne trailing by 5 points. He was around 35 metres out kicking to the Scoreboard / Geelong Road End (that's the right hand end as you notice on television) and he put it through.

Soon after the siren went with Melbourne winning by a point.

So I don't know about other games where he may hot have been as steady with pressure kicks from a set shot, but this day at the Western Oval he certainly was. As an 11 year old going on 12, back then in 1981, I can still recall it very clearly.

My favourite Robbie Flower game was actually the game when Jacko did the famous donkey kick, which was histerical. It was at Princes Park, I think it was about 1981?? What was more memorable for me that day was Flower's game on the wing and think his opponent may have been Rodney Eade, but I'm not sure. I can remember time and time again Kelvin Moore kicking out from full back only to see Flower beat his opponent one on one time and time again and deliver the ball back into the forward line. It was the classic old school wingman against wingman battle and Flower put all his tricks, skill and grace on display. At one stage he was about to be tackled and placed the ball on the ground, danced around his opponent and then scooped it up with one hand to send it back into the forward line. He had many battles like this against some great wingmen. Stan Alves, Keith Greig, Ricky Bahram etc. Ah those were the days! The only problem was, the rest of the team were pretty useless so we din't win that many. Oh well, it was fun to watch Flower. I think that is one reason he is so fondly remembered. We had litle else to enjoy but, "Gee Robbie played well today."

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
