Changes vs the Saints

Featured Replies

Garland is scarred.. He stood tall when we were disgusting!!

Unfortunately for us other teams would have noticed his courage and the resilience he has shown over the years.

The sooner he/we sign a contract the better.

Different styles of play but Tyson is a much better footy player than Vanders - I think we get too caught up with what we have just seen. Tyson was excellent last year and is our second best mid when all lined up and in form.

Agree, but Tyson's struggled to replicate last years form thus far, and Vanders has had a bigger impact this year (thus far).

MFC site reports that Garlo played much of Monday with a broken hand. He'll see the surgeon shortly and there's no indications yet how many games he'll miss. Also, Salem injured his good hamstring while training and will miss an extra couple of weeks. Sorry to be such an Old Dee.

Well that means

Outs:

Garland , Vanders

??

Newton was uncited last like, M. Jones I thought was Ok last week.

Ins:

Tyson and Grimes would be my picks

At some point youd think the h Dom will spark again.. The Aints might just be that game

ANB deserves a spot on his form.

Vs the saints is a good team to debut against, quite young like us.

I'd have him play this week.

Out> Galand (inj.), Vanders (inj.), Newton (omit)

In> Tyson, Grimes, ANB

No contract offer on the table for Gars from the club as yet...

I get the feeling he'd be one that Roos would be happy to let go of, (regardless of what he says to the media).

To be able to get a fresh face back there with kicking skills is my preference. We have too many defenders who can't kick.

Didn't Fitzy play most of the game in White? Thought he demolished White.

We had a bit of laugh when they lined up on each other - White and Fitzy having a talk before the opening bounce " Let's make a deal - neither of us have any impact on the game at all ? ". " OK - deal !"

The difference is that a defender can have zero impact but if his opponent has no impact then its consider a win for the defender.

Fitz had one poor moment - tunnel ball - and one nice moment - neat mark and goal.

I haven't given up on him yet.

Billings late out. Does anyone else have this funny feeling that ANB will be an absolute gun? Idk what it is. Never even seen him play before.

Ive got the feeling McCartney is working his magic on a number of young players. For some of the older ones it's simply too late.

Was a cork, which was why they let him play the rest of the game. There is no way if there was even a slight suspicion of fracture they would have kept him playing.

cork??? what a corked hip & lower back? he landed heavily side-on to the ground, hip first... bone jarring landing. the sort that rattles your teeth.

You have a serious case of "grass is greener" syndrome I reckon, BBP. They're the worst side we've faced since Gold Coast in round one. The Richmond and Bulldogs teams we beat were much better.

If this game isn't very, very winnable, then no game is winnable.

HaHaHa, they tell me the grass is very green down the Derwent valley Nash. most of the year to. 'just sayin'.

Say what you like about Garland being scarred or not being able to overcome the mental demons of the past few years. He played 3 quarters of footy with a broken hand! That is commitment and takes some serious mental strength to be able to do that.

aaahh, mental demons, you don't 'feel'.... unaware of them 99.9% of the time, but they handbrake you. without really knowing why or how.

they hide in your sub-conscience, like ghosts in the walls.

'cept nasher is in the huon valley, d-l,.......even greener

His endurance is a worry. Stops him playing 2 way football when playing on resting midfielders.

Jetta our small lock down defender. McDonald and Dunn the starting talls but Frost and Fitzy other options there. Salem a start for a skilled defender. Lumumba and Grimes back up options.

But I'd be keen to keep Garland because of his versatility in playing pretty much any type of defensive role and on most opponents. There's no rush for his spot in the side so why not keep him around so we can develop players properly. Plus you never know when he might make that leap back to his 2013 form with a bit more confidence and a good preseason.

I hope the club were hoping to see a return to fitness and form before offering a decent offer instead of putting a sub par first offer forward that could've upset him and derailed further negotiations.

ahh, Huon Valley, ha ha, they tell me its even greener down there. so green its mouldy mossy, & they said, it will grow 'even on rollin stones' down there, as well. ^_^

I generally agree with the sentiment here, mate. It all depends on whether another club is interested in Col and what we might get in return. If we could get a B+/A grade mid for him, he'd be expendable. Otherwise, keep him. His versatility has always been his best drawcard. Have always loved Col though.
