Try getting into form as a HFF with 39 Inside 50s...

Most of which were headed to the more dangerous Hogan.

The thread that we should all be in is "Melbourne's Midfield Sucks"...

He was utterly [censored] all over the ground.

There were multiple opportunities offered when Melbourne players looked up from half back, desperate for an option.

And there was Watts, jogging slowly in small circles. Making an art form of always being just slightly too close or slightly too far away.

Spot on.

He's so slow in reading the play and getting to position. The amount of times he's just a split second too late to lay that tackle before an opponent handballs/kicks is astounding.

He has NFI how to make an impact in games or exert himself in the play and even do the simple things at contests.

The point is 1858 is is doesn't want to make an impact thats been the problem all along Its been a well paid journey to oblivion and Jack wants to go there!

Don't mind a bit of hyperbole then?

Its not hyperbole at all. He has no place on an AFL list.

Dawes.

Yep, Dawes, Pedersen and Hogan in the same forward line. What could possibly go wrong there?

Would be fine if more than one of them could take a mark. As it is, the ball will hit the deck 80% of the time and it will be walked back out by any decent defence in the league.

Do you really think shaming people, or humiliating them in public, spurs them on to 'have a real crack'.

I don't.

Dazzle, Ive taken many deep breaths when it comes to Watts but I have none left

We know he wont chase or tackle.. we know he is scared of contact. We know if hes not being force fed easy touches he is useless.

Is 2 months at Casey going to suddenly make him want to play a physical sport and give 100% for the jumper? No. He plays scared and always will. You cant teach courage or heart.

He is simply taking up a spot on the list , a spot thats being wasted.

So you're saying Hogan and Pedo can't mark?

Watts is clunking everything at the moment isn't he?

lol why am I bothering...

mate, I reckon Jackie has talent to burn. What he doesn't have is particular application at the AFL. level. Not just my impression, just look at his games.

I get no joy from calling it. Fifa he tries to be a footy player, he trains his arse off, he has good instincts for the game. He's just not cut from a cloth that's hardy enough.

Wish the bloke well but wish Melbourne better, and better is better than Jack .

Sad really

I don't.

I can only imagine if I was in his position and had my apparent 'softness' called into question publicly on many, many occasions, that I would be doing my darndest to go out there and play like a maniac

it's not just from his own supporters and the media, over the journey he MUST have had several coaches get into his ear about it

but he doesn't change

ps I usually back him in, time after time, but it's starting to wear very thin. It's just so frustrating watching talent get wasted

Always said he should have been dropped a couple of weeks ago.. but obviously coaches know better.

Im glad pedersen played well today because i expect a straight swap for Dawes and Watts in the selection table. I will be filthy if thats not the case.

I also think while he is still young we should seriously consider him up for trade at the end of the year. Because the way i see it Watts is another Colin Sylvia minus the headcase stuff that he will just cruise on through to 150 games and people will be absolutely shocked that he got that far.

If we nab a 2nd round draft pick im happy.

He had a bad game.

Not alone.

Have a feeding frenzy.

Enjoy.

Has had 4 bad games in a row actually

Its amazing that its taken 100 games for everyone to agree on his failings and lack of virtues.

His skills arnt that great because he cant produce them under the slightest pressure which is the name of the game in the AFL.

He's a 100 gamer only because the list has sucked for the last 95 games.

THE BIGGEST KNOCK ON HIS WEAKNESSES IS THAT PEOPLE STILL SAY THAT A GANG TACKLE 100 GAMES AGO

RUINED HIS CAREER!!

It wasnt even a particularly heavy tackle.

Geez

When Garry Lyon tries to write about you then you know youre yesterdays news..

Not really.

Gws: Wasn't too bad. Went missing in the 2nd half.

Adelaide: Soft and insipid.

Richmond: Another performance he would rather forget.

Freo: Worst on ground.

Time to take off the rose coloured glasses mate..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
