Family Day @ Luna Park 15/3/15

Featured Replies

So. ...

We have a great day for kiddies and young families.

Thats good

Elephant in the room time surely ?

Devils advocate time..thats all

It is called 'Family Day'.

It is called 'Family Day'.

wel done captain obvious

Look to the rest of potential.

Too hard ?

Recent days shows the club doesn't quite get it re opportunity.

By all means embrace youth. They ARE the future. But the present pays the bills.

Elephant talk:

Simply ...what for anyone else.

it, for mine, goes back to missed opportunity

if the club thinks luna park day cuts it for all. ..well sadly mistaken I'd say.

We get something called game day

There's about 11 home ones and a few local away games each year.

There will also be food, drinks, membership tent, merchandise for sale and around 3 hours of "entertainment"

Anything else needed or is this another missed opportunity?

you obliously dony quite understand opportunity.

Back to sleep son

Meanwhile others understand the mixture of marketing, opportunity, bottom line.

Simply suggesting 11 h/a fames is 20th century.

This club cant rest on laurels. Has to be on front feet !!

Was there today and had a great time. My two daughters (17 & 19) absolutely loved getting pics and talking with the players. 19yo has a big crush on JKH and got a few pics. Very well done to MFC and also to the greater majority of the players. One or two seamed disinterested but most were thrilled to be able to meet and talk with the kids (and older teenagers!). O'Mac was also brilliant and willing to engage. Another fantastic day. As I said - very well done to the MFC and player for being totally involved.

That's good to hear Stephen.

Reading all of these it seems on the whole the players were generally pretty good.

A lot of the time we all forget they are humans like the rest of us and aren't all outgoing, funny, naturally socialable people just because the club says you're required at an event.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the day though, I may have to pull myself out of bed next year

How about rather then complaining about these "missed opportunities", why don't you come up with a detailed planned idea of what you would like to done, write up an a business plan and profit forecast, draw up a budget and schedule and submit it to the club because cleary you must be better at event management and marketing then anyone working there.

Or is ragging on the clubs family day or complaining about a training run just easier

Heezus bb are you serious? Credit where credit is due. Good job mfc. Sounds like all did a top job

2 i think, someones converted pies daughter, and someones kids' friend.

Thanks Song!! :)

Was there a Q a mile long wanting to sign up??

Thank you to all who supported the Demon Army at our photo booth by PhotoMeUp (Dees supporters, if you want to be in the know). We always have an excellent day at Family Day. Thanks to the boys who were stationed with us - Matt Jones & Max King to begin and then to the rest of the team who tried gate-crashing. After the dust settled it was JKH & the Toump who survived for the rest of the morning. We love seeing all Dees supporters and especially our youngsters. It's good to see you all!

Sounds a bit like last year's Interstate Members function at the Duke, except it started at about 11am (and I assume Saty wasn't there)...

I was having a great time 'till I got to the 'G to see us take on the Cats.

Pickles and Spencil were really enthused, that day.

Highlighted for Nasher

This is a great day for young supporters - my four year old had a ball. Luna Park is a great venue at present, but it would be horrible with a few more people in the place. I'm not sure it could handle a membership of 50K.

Jones & Grimes were fantastic with my boy (as always), and Watts is another who has been brilliant in the past. I thought Petracca was fantastic as well, as a young bloke. Interesting that Garland was mentioned - I am a fan, but from a distance he didn't look like he wanted to be there today.

He was fine signing the team photos with Nev Jetta as far as I could see, perhaps a bit of fatigue from the game, JKH made a good job of hiding his soreness, not coming up the stairs in the castle though

I am 63 and my partner is in her fifties, we met quite a few of our vintage there today, including some who post here, we had a great time

I think you need to grow up

My 9 year old wasn't impressed with col garland she thought he was a grumpy old man.

A few years ago my son was lucky enough to present Colin with his jumper pre-season. 2 years later Colin saw him at a footy clinic and remembered him and spoke to him. Colin then gathered half the team together for a group photo with my son. I doubt he has changed that much.

as you do often. Missed the point entirely.

You wont have anything said that detracts or questions Melbourne.

Family days are fine. They are limited in scope and they should only be part of a more encompassing effort to promote the club. The MFC does some thibfs well but sadly misses a lot going begging elsewhere.

You won't understand this of course.

You are far too insular of perspective im afraid TDI

Go Dees

BB, what else is in the more encompassing effort? Do you have an idea or is it that you just think they should do more, but have no idea what that more is?

I have no interest in meeting players, getting autographs and the such, all i want to see is my team play well and win, i will high five them at the fence while i belt out the song. I am happy the people who like meeting players etc. enjoyed the day and think it was exactly what was expected and required, it's good to see they can get it right sometimes.

Ill answer more fully later.

Teams like nth toiges doggies ( that I know of)

Blues too, cttoi... often have a presence at local festivals and such.

A chance to plug the brand and connect.

Cant say im aware of MFC doing this. Happy to be corrected.

There are other avenues. . A Visit to Brighton I suppose counts but these things need to have greater reach for effect.

A simple overview is it shouldn't wait for ppl to come to it. Thats very antiquated in outlook.

700+ members make it worthwhile

Hopefully next year after we have moved up the ladder that figure will be closer to 5,000!! :)

I would have gone if I'd known Saty would be there.

I want him to autograph my scooter.

Apart from Melbourne having a presence at Chinese New Year?

I dont get what Family Day was supposed to do other than be for families. I went along with mine and had a cracking time as usual.

There's a season launch next Monday if thats more your thing for the adults, and a pink breakfast the week after to continue our

awareness campaign for Breast Cancer. Oh and that whole game that we dedicate to it with a curtain raiser of womens football.

Which has a concerted media push all week.

Poor timing Sir

The day of the GP is far from ideal, if not for that day i would have gone with my Grand Daughter and tried to brain wash her.

Yes it made no sense to be on Grand Prix race day, but maybe Luna Park begged them!!
