Based on what we've seen this far, I'd agree with that.

On the other nights game, I'd have both players ahead of Grimes and M.Jones.

I guess that is the beauty of the pre-season, players will be rewarded by their performance leading into the real thing.

If that is a measure of our best 22, then atm I'd have Newton and Michie in our best 22.

I'm a grimes fan, besides his disposal, but i really think he needs a few weeks at casey.

the kid can play but he really needs to take the weight of the world off his shoulders, get back to enjoying footy and find some good form, he and Jimmy toumpas scream to me as blokes who just think way too much rather than backing their talent and acting on instinct

Apparently Newton had it 19 times yesterday. I cant say that i really noticed him that much...I think Michie had it 4 times in the last. Michie needs a full game to see what he can do and i think he will get that vs Essendrug. Be good to see Newton play again as well. I'm not sold on either at this moment in time.

As a side note, i thought Grimes was good vs Dogs. He disposed with the ball within his limitations, did not try to do too much.

Newton will be a regular in the midfield rotations.

Newton is a lock for round 1 for me, he isn't flashy but he will consistantly play his role and use the ball well, and in my opinion he is AFL standard rather than someone like Matt Jones who i consider borderline.

Newton was good. Played a bit more outside and first time i saw him use his kicking skills and they were top notch.

Has a tough of class about him thats for sure.
