I hope to god we don't have pick 11 ever again.

Pick 12 (with the exception of Cook) FTW

How did we get that group of interstate players in 1986 that got us to the 87 finals? I'm talking Stretch, Spalding, Warren Dean and Todd Viney. I don't see them in the draft

Probably because they were already playing with us before 1986.

Understanding obviously that the 1986 draft is at the end of the 86 season, Stretch. And Viney were signed prior. Stretch came across in 86 and Viney waited a year before crossing over in 87. 1987 was the inception year of the Eagles so no West Australians were drafted in the 1986 draft. For whatever reason Spalding and Dean opted not to play with the Eagles and come to the Dees, possibly had signed earlier, possible more money on the table, maybe Eagles not keen on them.

I miss watching TJ, Neitz, Whelan, Yze, Doggie Brown, Leoncelli, Rigoni, Bruce, Green, Wheatley and the rest of the Daniher group play. We were an exciting team to watch and won more often than not. It's been far too long since we were that good. Can't believe we haven't made finals since 2006 now!

Needs more pick 16 and 50s.

Schwabby recruited them

was it form fours back then?

Very interesting reading indeed. Cameron Bruce and Russell Robertson were great draft picks at #64 and #68. Let's hope our 2014 TBC's turn out to be just what we need!
