Haha funny you say that... Maybe too many shite tattoos?

I'd have to agree with that.

Doesn't stop him playing some good footy though!

You know what? I've heard some horrible stuff about him, but I also worry that subconsciously I just hate him because of those God awful tattoos. I don't mind a good tough sticker, but he looks horrible.

But, I try to be objective and I think I just really don't like the type of person he is.

Just me, I guess.

I take it you know him personally?

I couldn't care less about his tatts. As long as he adds to our list and the trade is reasonable. The rest is bullsht.

Just me, I guess.

Nope.

And you can call it [censored] all you like, that's fine.

I trust the people I've spoken to, and it seems to be backed up by popular opinion.

I won't support anyone simply because they are on the list, or can play.

Just me.

I know some are saying the situations are different and every situation is but if Beams is using his sick father to get out of Collingwood then it's pretty low I reckon. Clark used depression to get out of Melbourne, similar I think. I wouldn't trust Beams if that's the way he does business.

Similar because both seem to have a value system based around money.

I haven't read all of this thread but I think 'Pennant' mentioned something about taking time out to be with his father. If his father is in really bad shape then the only honourable thing to do is to go home, trade or no trade.

Not interested in a genuine A-GRADE mid with 8 years of footy left in him? Ok.

Doesn't strike me as the type to have 8 years left in him. All of those drug fueled finals campaigns would take it out of you.

Collingwood say he wants out for personal reasons but I say there is a reason they don't want him and that is my hesitation - I had the same hesitation with Dawes and my instincts where correct on that one too - way overs and hasn't come close to justifying what we gave up for him. I do like his ability to take out the opposition with brutality which I can't argue with.

If there is one club I don't want to pay overs for a player it's Collingwood. Something stinks about there demand for a high pick and a good young player. I can smell the stench from a mile a way - they are kidding themselves and I hope our guys can see through it.

We don't want beams. He wants to go north. He doesn't want to play for a vic team so i doubt we would want him.

All rubbish

25+ possessions in 14 of 18 games and multiple goals in 7 of them. Add 5 possessions each to Tyson and Jones each game on top of that I reckon.

Would make a significant difference to our side.

Agreed. He's being severely underrated on this board, partly due to his playing for Collingwood, partly due to the fact that to get him we may be trading Trengove.

You're a complete fool then.

Well the Dees would be fools if they gave up anything close to want they are asking.

Collingwood are on the search for a club foolish enough to give up high draft picks to help them build a talented list and have the done the same thing the last few years to improve there draft position. They're giving up players who might be at the top of there game right now and are excellent bait to hang on the line but these players are more than likely going to trend downwards over the next few years in performance and Collingwood can see that coming.

I'd be way more interested to go and watch a talented youngster drafted at 23 develop than watch Beams. Doesn't get me excited at all and more than anything I reckon he's the wrong fit for our club.

He can seriously play.

But here is a list of people that I would take before him in an off-field context.

Nathan Carroll

Mitch Robinson

Ben Cousins

Toby Greene

Dan Conners

Heath Shaw

Dustin Martin

Lance Franklin

Jake King

Mick Gatto

Don't want him anywhere near our club.

Few things guys, beams is an amazingly good player.

He is worth giving up pick 3 for.

Edit: Collingwood did not want him to leave.

Wouldn't touch him unless we could get his brother down from Brisbane.

Would it be out of order to try to reunite both Beams boys at the club and bring dad to Melbourne?

Yes of course it is.

You realise his dad has cancer. You realise all his doctors, his mates, his support staff are up north? Are you going to help him find a new house, a new doctor, a new support base, new mates etc just to improve the team? Some people really don't think.

It's not just about football you know.

IMO Beams seems more and more risky as it unfolds with the changing messages surround why he wants to leave. If he was of an upstanding character he would be honest with Buckley and Collingwood and tell them of his concerns and deal with them with integrity. If there was a breakdown in relationship not addressing up front speaks to his character. If faced with a breakdown I am sure Collingwood would trade like they are willing to do with Lumumba. That type of player regardless of how good he is should not be at MFC. If it is for the ilness of Dad then the Pies are just delusional, power hungry muppets Let him go to QLD Pies!

thats what I'm getting atmo, Re the issues surrounding his separation from the Pies. Understandable if its his fathers ailing health, but if the Pies are pushing out a great player, Why?

I wish I had something to believe.

The Pies are desperately trying to keep him.

But their actions are obviously quite harmful, and there's no way he'll sty.

Who said the pies want him to go, when it first broke that HE requested the trade it sounded much more like they were spewing!!

Given his dad lives in Gold Coast, not brissy, & he would only entertain brissy's offer of massive $$ & to play with his brother, plus hating Buckley, these were always clearly the main motivation for Beams, not his sick father (who gave him no structure or discipline in life apparently & is on the road to recovery with the cancer in remission). I reckon the fathers illness was a smoke screen for the colliwobbles to 'justify' why a gun who they clearly rate internally wanted to leave their 'club'...... Gee, it wouldn't be like Eddie to push a cover story in the media to protect his love child Buckley & beloved Pies hey?!?

Funnily enough its been reported his dad actually doesn't live in or near Brisbane...

Exactly! This is about 'stuff you Buckley' & getting the biggest pay day possible. If it meant he could play with his brother in sunny brissy, all the better.

I reckon Buckley is just pizzed he never won a premiership & he doesn't value the premiership players still at the Pies, he mismanaged soo many senior players now it's not funny, the noises started with Jolly no?

HL, Swan, Jolly, Dids, Shaws, Beams, Dawes, Thomas etc etc. (a lot of talent there)

These blokes could perform for mad mick without complaint but not bucks.....

Who knows, we land HL & Beams to go with Dawes & we might have Steele & Pendles knocking on our door by 2016! ;-p

That makes absolutely no sense. Midfielders. We need midfielders.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Cameron, but midfield is priority one.

Some forwards who can mark and kick goals would be good too.

Sorry but the rules have changed and we're taking in DH's these days.

Ha! Obviously, we got HL & Garlett coming over with plenty of baggage ;-p

What garbage that no DH thing is! Very subjective in the first place & who says what constitute one or doesn't? Someone may do a DH thing once but otherwise be an awesome bloke. And imo there were plenty of DH's in Sydney when Roos was there starting with big bad overrated bazza & ending in hannebery (at least I think they are DH's but I would be happy if we had players who had their talents playing for us regardless!)

Now...is there any serious talk of Beams being in a trade deal to MFC or is it just stuff made up here?

Who is reporting this stuff and do they have real info or are they just reading 'Demonland'?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
