Do the crime, do the time. Regardless of whether the rules are stupid or not, he [censored] up and deserved a week. Useless as usual, the whole system is a farce.

Wow...The system has left itself wide open now....

Lawyers will be busy next week clearing players for a Grand Final!!!

The point is the inconsistency is an absolute joke for a so called "professional" sport.

Simple fact is he CHOSE to bump a player 7 meters from the ball with the intent to throw him off balance and prevent him from impacting the game's next contest. He elected to jump off the ground and as a result made contact with the head and caused Selwood to bleed. This action took Selwood out of the game for at least 5 minutes, during which time North capitalized with a goal.

And this sniping little turd, great a player as he is, has form. Got no sympathy for him whatsoever.

But as usual the AFL just make the rules up as they go.

you have a funny definition of crime

lot of worse stuff doesn't even attract a charge

The bump lives, long live the bump !!!

Agreed!! Especially "sniping little turd,"

Just the AFL. Is anyone surprised?

After the drug saga, it is pretty clear that the AFL just do what they want.

There is no structure or integrity.

I know a lot of demonland aren't boomer fans but really I personally don't want to see quality players rubbed out of finals for incidents like that

[censored] him!!!

This was always going to happen. The form of the tribunal is that he will appeal and be let off.

You are a seriously gifted individual GNF.

Finals shouldn't matter.

Star players, finals, old players, finals.. It should not matter.

Rules should be rules.

The AFL has clearly shown over the past couple of years why it will only ever be an Australian Sport.

Anyone know the reason for the judgement? Was it downgraded to negigible impact or something? We know he chose to bump and contact was high. Then again it is impossible not to get Selwood high no matter what you are doing so maybe that was the reason?

I'm looking on the bright side of this. It'll bring much greater joy to see Norf go down with the TV cameras honed in on the little sook.

Okay, correct, blokes should not be suspended for that because it was little more than a fairy tap and did about as much damage as being hit by an ice cream

I would have thought it would be classed as insufficient force to constitute a report. Didn't give him a concussion, didn't sit him on his arse.

Sure Joel Selwood bled all night but his eye brow would be paper thin, he's been cut there so many times

Just throwing it out there, but this is pretty much exactly what happened

The bump lives, long live the bump !!!

Only till someone less high-profile does it.

Insufficient force and Selwoods testemony and medical records saying that he goes off with the blood rule so often and has so much scare tissue on his eyebrow that would cause it to bleed for way longer then a normal person. Well that's the jist of it anyway

youre probably right :(

I don't want to see ordinary players rubbed out of any games for incidents like that.

I bet if he had a Sydney jumper on he wouldn't get a week no matter his past record!

I liked what one bloke on big footy said.

If Harvey was in a Sydney jumper, Selwood would've been reported for headbutting.

I don't want to see ordinary players rubbed out of any games for incidents like that.

True, he shouldn't of been suspended in the first place. I have no problem with it

If he played for Melbourne he would appeal and get 2 weeks instead.

#demonlyf.

Common sense prevails despite the lack of love for Boomer.

Kudos Selwood.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
