1948 Premiership flag found by police.

12 flags/cups in the first 68 years.

10 in 26 years between 1939 and 1964 and would have been more if not for the war - 39/40/41 team would certainly have won more - who knows how many - but nearly all of the good players went off to the war after 41.

Those were the days (except for the war) - a premiership every 5.6 years and between 1939 and 1964 - every 2.6 years.

6 of the 12 premierships beat Collwood in the Grand Final - magnificent.

I was the only kid at school who barracked for the Demons in the 50s/60s - wore my Melb Jumper to school every day in the winter (No 3 Peter Marquis - full back and No 5 Ian McLean - wingman) - all the other kids barracked for Collwood,Essendon,Carlton etc. - I was hated because MFC were hated - it was unbeeleeeevably good.

(yeah the MFC was a sporting section of the MCC).

actually i believe there are only cups for the last three mfc premierships

prior to that the vfl didn't award cups

Who would be silly enough to post such an item on ebay FFS? I'm guessing his next job is not going to be robbing the Crown Jewels.

Or wagging class and then posting on the internet?

It is nice they got it back.

But I am tired of past Glories

I want few future glories in the next couple of years.

Like the glory of being in the top half of the ladder in 2016

Now don't get too carried away there OD. It is a little too soon. Give it another 50 years and we should have recovered by then.

As usual Moonie, you have run off at the gob, without being in full possession of the facts ( or should that be faculties?). I am legitimately on leave.

having another curriculum holiday day off bbo?

Leave without pay pending a police report, I've heard. Poor kids....

A number of clubs have had replicas made. I guess we should too....

Why Jnr they would probably misplace those as well.

it doesn't mean he stole it BBO, it may have been part of a deceased estate, her rellies' ? may have hung around the Gat' for years ?

5 more flags missing too... as reported in "The Age"

Wonder if anyone here knows of their whereabouts too?

!!! moth-ra ???

Two pages in and no-one's mentioned the obvious suspect, a man who not only had access to the flag but an obsession with the glory days of years gone by.

Sorry Schwabby, but I'm going to blame this one on you too ...

or Stacky ?

True enough dee- luded but you'd still have to be a nong not to realize the item belonged to somebody else.

Attending to my professional Judies dc.

you've given the game away now BBO, you & your country mates; So, when did Daisy & Biff arrive up dere ?

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.
