I note that 2015 was the hottest year globally so far, one of 14 hottest years since 2000 but somehow we are not warming, but yes if we are, it is not human induced anyway. And there is nothing we should do to change it!

BAU till we go under boys! But I will be be dead by then hopefully.

I feel for weather drones.  The Earth has always warmed, always cooled and always will.  Btw, 2015 is not the hottest on record.

The following is from Richard Lindzen:

“Frankly, I feel it is proof of dishonesty to argue about things like small fluctuations in temperature or the sign of a trend,” Lindzen, a climatologist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  “Why lend credibility to this dishonesty?”

“All that matters is that for almost 40 years, model projections have almost all exceeded observations,” Lindzen says. “Even if all the observed warming were due to greenhouse emissions, it would still point to low sensitivity.”

“70% of the earth is oceans, we can’t measure those temperatures very well.”  “They can be off a half a degree, a quarter of a degree.”  “Even two-10ths of a degree of change would be tiny but two-100ths is ludicrous. Anyone who starts crowing about those numbers shows that they’re putting spin on nothing.”

Put simply, Earl.  The climate models have been wrong for 40 years.  The planet is in a warming phase, although it's previously been far hotter, and this minor warming, which is well below past predictions, is nothing to chest thump about.

But yes, it panders to the gullible.  It panders to you.

The things the media won’t tell us

 Joe Bast, Heartland Institute

Bast: “The “news’ story makes no mention of the Congressional investigation of NOAA underway, finding evidence that NOAA falsified its temperature data. No mention that the surface station data aren’t actually global and are known to  exaggerate warming trends. And are contradicted by the truly global satellite data, which are in turn validated by weather balloon data. Or that saying “reliable global record-keeping began in 1880” conveniently puts the beginning of the data series at the end of the Little Ice Age. Heartland’s James Taylor tried to inoculate the press from NOAA’s virus with a piece last week at Forbes.com “2015 Was Not Even Close To Hottest Year On Record”.

The Demonland Code of Conduct includes this:

'Articles from newspapers, afl.com.au, sportal.com.au* must not be copied and pasted in full on Demonland.com. Members who paste full afl.com.au, Sportal articles etc. will be warned by Moderators and potentially be prosecuted under Copyright laws.'

Posts that are inconsistent with this will be removed from hereon (yes, they probably should have been treated accordingly earlier). If you wish to rely on arguments/information published elsewhere please provide links or your own summary.

Quoting the Heartland Institute, for heavens sake PD! Accuse me of being gullible, really! Are you now going to tell me smoking tobacco is good for me?

It's just getting a bit warmer everyone but don't panic, relax and have another ciggy, alls good, leave it all to us billionaires like Rupert M and the Koch Brothers to tell the real truth, and stuff those scientific nerds down at NASA and the NOAA. What would they know!

By the way Who the hell is Joe Bast and what has he ever done scientifically, other than take cash for comment?

just like an ostrich,  thinks an old monetary system is more important,  than maintaining our current environmental status,  in the interests of people surviving,  as we currently have it.

money is nothing more than a barter system exchange.

How about you head off and work as a volunteer in some of these poverty stricken areas... perhaps you might like to look into why they are poverty stricken while you are at it; you might find that it has quite a bit to do with, among other things, environmental degradation.  And this is just a wild guess, but I get the feeling that by the way you seem to have a death grip on your finances, I somehow doubt you are contributing much in assistance to these poverty stricken you care so much about.

c'mon hardtack, you have to be better than resorting to that type of "argument"

Although facetiousness will only carry you so far since one of the signatories to the declaration is that good ol' boy, Roy Spencer. Spencer (who's also an evolution denier) has his dessert spoon well and truly in the climate research pudding, so any humbug he's a party to about wasted money is exactly that: humbug. And Spencer isn't just another name in the sclerotic pantheon of climate deniers, he's central to it. It's his dodgy figures from satellite data, after all, that produce the anomalous atmospheric warming figures that the denialist throng rely for all those dumb claims that amplify in their ridiculousness as they pass from hand to mouth and end up in Jo Nova's blog.

Spencer is also on the record as claiming that he disputes global warming and its projected outcomes because these are contrary to his god's plan. And you want to make insinuations about credulity.

As for all these Christians with their heartfelt (heartlandfelt) concern for the poor, if this isn't just pharisaical, which no doubt it is, we can only wonder why it seems to be climate change that's their singular concern when there are so many other potential sources for the alleviation of poverty. They can't really be stupid enough to believe in those madcap claims about trillions of dollars, surely? Then again ...

Not much. He was once shopping around a list of 17000 scientists supposedly opposed to global warming. Good thing it turned out to be bogus or, in another fit of glazomania, ProDee might have copied it to this thread to clog up the works completely.

Although in truth Bast has never done anything scientifically. He couldn't even manage to get an economics degree.

When have I brought up Spencer or Christians ?

Christians aren't the only humans to have a faith, ask environmentalists.

And no, Spencer wouldn't be the only one to suggest satellite data is superior to surface temperatures.  70% of the Earth's surface is water.

You supposedly have a science background, what are your views on NASA manipulating data and previous temperature records ?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
