Dawes in doubt?

Featured Replies

Been afraid of this all week. Fitzpatrick being named as an emergency increased my suspicion

Can't see us winning this if he's out.

I wouldn't care if he trotted out there on one leg. His presence just helps in general

Agreed. Could see us reverting to our ways of the first couple of games. Fitzpatrick has no idea how to bring the ball to ground and assist crumbers. Ball goes straight through his hands so often

Spot on, S. Dawes is practically an assistant coach on field too. Really, really important that he plays.

Knowing our luck, he's probably re-injured his calf, and will miss most of the season

Tragedy, if that were the case, mate.

If true, the bloke can [censored] off. Too many injury prone bit players in this team. If he can't get himself on the park week in week out then he can take his money and [censored] off and leave the spot I. The team and room in the salary cap for someone else.

Now take a deep breath...

I don't want him to be out, so (naturally) you can bet he'll be out.

What a terrible sentiment.

Wow.

You're a [censored].

Very true. He is probably sitting in the change rooms whacking his legs with a claw hammer in hope that he is going to get injured and not play.

Damn him and his human fallibility. Why does Chris Dawes insist on being made of flesh and blood? He should be made of the same stuff most football players are: titanium.

Nah

Incredibly frustrating if true. Will wait for confirmation before cursing at the footy gods.

Fwiw stevo on ch 7 game day didn't mention anything at 11:30.

I know this might sound silly but I would've played Dawes last week even if it meant missing the next 2 - 3 games as he basically bought us that win last week.

On sen? Must have been Finey or Robert shaw then? I sincerely doubt either of those two fools would have any decent mail...

Fully expecting him to play, especially as he's trained strongly this week hasn't he?

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
