Vince says we're lacking a superstar, maybe Bernie gets onto the phone to his mate Patty Dangerfield and whispers soon finals success and a chance to come home.

T Mac and our first round pick for Patty Dangerfield?
Wouldn't mind Tex Walker either, I know the last thing we need is another kpf with injuries but still, it's Tex Walker

Didn't need Bernie to point that one out. We've been lacking a superstar for a long, long time.

Think they'd want more than that for Danger. Throw Trenners in and they may show interest. Lots of water to go under the bridge before trade time.

Trenners is over imo, Judd went for Josh Kennedy a quality forward pick 3 and pick 20, don't see why T Mac can't go and a first round pick can't go for Danger

(And McDonald was a better player than Kennedy was before he went to Meth Coke)

And if Danger came out and said he will not sigh a contract for 2015 and wants to be traded, they'd take what they can get so they get something out of it

He is right, until we get an even contribution from the 22 players each week we will struggle. That is what I read from his comments rather than the superstar comment. Footy today is a team game that if you have a couple of weak links you will get beaten. We carry to many weak links into each week and until we can either get a healthy list that sees out best 22 on the park or we can find another 5-6 players that are AFL standard we will struggle.

Thank you captain obvious!

What should we do then?

Dangerfield? Barlow? Fyfe, he's out of contract at the end of the season isn't he?

We have a Star...maybe just off superstar..... but a game changer...but he never damn well plays...

Has Matt Pridis signed yet?

Viney? he's not a superstar yet.. yet this we'll be his yar

All those players named would be dying to come to the Dees, if nothing else, just to add a few flags to their CV.

I think our first task is to get rid of sub standard players, adopt the Roos recruiting philosophy of adding a few more good hard players, by trading an early pick for a lower pick and a player for example and starting to climb up the ladder.

When we start that climb and show we are on the move, then we can go after a star player or two.

We've been lacking a superstar since Robbie Flower if not before but as Vince said we need an even performance.

Especially once Garland is back we have a group of capable defenders even if we need to add some skill and pace off half back. We know the midfield needs work but Jones now has some support with Vince, Cross and Tyson plus more. Dawes and Hogan plus the bonus if Clark ever comes back plus the eventual freshening of the small forward roles with players like Salem and Kent gives us some forwards who can kick goals.

The best chance we have of getting a superstar is Viney and Hogan. Both have great talent. But it's hard if not impossible to emerge as a young star in a very bad team.

Unfortunately right at the moment tall forwards is the one area on the ground where it's very hard for us to get an even performance. We just don't have the cattle.

And if Danger came out and said he will not sigh a contract for 2015 and wants to be traded, they'd take what they can get so they get something out of it

Dangerfield is contracted until the end of 2015.

Worry about this next year....

We cant afford Danger while we are paying 800k to someone on indefinite personal leave.

Go back to harping upon this chestnut on the Mitch thread.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
