Practice Match - Casey Scorpions v Williamstown

4 number 1 picks and 27 first rounders... Was going to happen eventually...

Is there anything more we can give them in terms of draft concessions? Surely Andrew can give them more. I think GCS still had some first round concession picks banked for next year. This Shyte plus free agency is really, making it hard for the battler clubs like ourselves.

The AFL are activating a pick they got back from Cats as compo for ablett... Gravy train!!

Yep, going to be a few years while GWS and GC dominate the league, if they play in a GF at least the AFL wont have supporters of the clubs whinging they did not get tickets.

any chance we could play Gawn as a forward only next week just so we have a tall up there?

Why only next week ?

Seems to me he is one of a very few options for the next month.

Sorry I was meant to write can we play Gawn only as a forward and just keep him up there as a tall target.

I don't think there is Too much to over-worry about, Re GCS & GWS... they'll be strong, but IMO it'll take them 4 years to build to be able to win the GrandFinal. & there is no guarantees in winning it.

they'll start to be tested physically soon.

As those 2 clubs lists mature, there will be players leaving for better opportunities, & money, home conditions, family health reasons, etc...

other clubs will raid them, & they will get injuries along the way, facts of footy life.

Theyll make great incubators

The question of Gawn's tank has been raised before. Just how far short of AFL running requirements is he?

I was referring to the more immediate issue of whether Gawn was sufficiently advanced in his rehab to get him a game in the first round after very little game time in the pre season. As we saw yesterday with the GWS V Sydney game fitness and the ability to see out a game, particularly in the early part of the season is important.

I have a feeling we get more from him for three quarters than the alternatives will give for a full game WJ

I reckon Gawn gets a spot in the forward line and relief ruck, having Fitzy and Pedo as well who can do that and sharing it around helps cover any concerns about Gawn being underdone imo and Gawn, Fitzy, Pedo, Howe, Kennedy-Harris and co are going to seriously test the saints defence, especially if we beat them out of the middle as expected.

Just stick Maxy in the goal square for 80% of the game. Don't need to be too fit for that….

I went to the game and WJ has suggested.... Nothing to write home about. Very very ordinary stuff, Tapscott and Strauss really need to start showing something to stay on this list. They should be killing it in a vfl practice hit out but I can't recall a single thing they did to impress.

Simply not up to it deestar

Agree Old Dee, both look lost and panic. Tappy just has no tricks and the position he is trying to play you need to have something or at the very least pace. Strauss just doesn't have any impact.

From this game no one really stood out only one thing did, we lack talls. We have no spare tall defenders for Casey, none even if we are fully fit our Key defender stocks are extremely light. You know once Dawes, Hogan, Jamar and Gawn are fit we have he tall forward ruck stocks but down back we have nothing outside Frawley, Garland and McDonald.

Shame Viney didn't play means most likely no round 1 for him.

Viney is starting to worry me.

I think he needs to be told there is a difference between being a tough inside player and being foolhardy.

He has already had too many bouts of concussion and impact injuries.

If he keeps boring in with little regard for his safety he will have a short career.

The Casey Scorpions have now finalised their list with two late signings in former Dandenong Stingrays Angus Scott and Dale Gawley making a total of 25 newcomers at the Scorpions in 2014.

Gawn 2016.

Some way off.

Doesn't pay to draft projects.

But it is the MFC way.. Gawn will be a great ruckman, but it we'll have to be patient.

It is another lesson we have learnt. Hannah was a big miss for us. We all knew that.

Can anyone tell me if Salem played? How did he go?

Viney needs to play smarter, it is dissapointing.. Someone needs to have a good chat to Jack.

What ruckmen aren't projects?

FMD you talk some crap.

Did you need the last line?

It is possible to disagree without that stance.

Yeah, he can channel Big Bob Johnson.
