Even Wright and mccartin haven't been convincing in my opinion,

They will probably be decent players but compared to the last couple of years it seems a pretty weak draft, maybe the real gems are down abit lower, Corey Ellis, De goey, ahern, Weller they all look solid prospects, perhaps the Dom Tyson type deal could prove a huge winner this year

I don't think depth is a problem in this draft, just that those projected as the earliest picks just aren't can't-miss blue-chippers.

None are in reality, but these guys in this year's crop don't even give the illusion of being that good.

So you could very easily pull out a Fyfe at pick 20 this year.

Trade down in the draft and get more picks, I say.

Trelor doesn't like Roos.

Even before I learned that he said that, I was internally questioning his character and intelligence.

Treloar is a weird fella. I'm really not sure about him.

Will be a successful individual as a footballer, but I'm really not sure beyond that.

may be like trade for a player + a pick scenario again...I hope

22 yr old plus another pick?

Could be right here 'Machsy', I've mentioned Gore a couple of times and he's likely to go in the 20's if not later but to me looks like the most natural mid of the lot. Have you got an opinion on him?

Posted

Haven't seen close to enough of Gore, but looked promising.

He may even be a distant relation, so I'm keen to follow his progress.

Very few players really pushed themselves above the pack at the champs, save for Caleb Daniel, and he's under 170cm, they were saying 167cm at one stage.

Now, I'm converted to now seeing that a player of Prestia's size can make the grade...

But even he has almost 10cm on young Daniel.

I'd happily take him in the 3rd round onwards, however.

He was prolific.

I Reckon that's a good idea, the top of the draft doesn't inspire me any more than the teens, the trade you suggested to the suns I think would be a huge win for both parties, if we could get that done with the frawley compo and add perhaps Corey Ellis and Lachie Weller, a couple of players who I think will be solid B+ for 200 games, Ellis has a really good left foot and can create off half back, Lachie has a really good turn of pace, but is also more than capable of winning the inside ball,

the beauty of the paul roos game plan is every pick doesn't have to be a superstar, the player just have to be able to play a consistant role for the team

If we were to look to replace Chip via the draft Durdin would be the obvious choice for mine

did anyone else on here watch on the couch this week? Michael Turner saying Hugh Goddard is on par with Luke Hodge as the best two prospects to come out of the Geelong Falcons in his opinion, could very easily prove to be a bargain pick, was rated top 5 besides his poor champs

When I watched him against WA at Freo Oval he looked really polished but rather laconic, reminded me somewhat of a Jack Watts type in the way he seemed to just stroll through the game without really imposing himself.

He reads the play very well and has good positional sense but I have some doubts on his intensity at the next level as when he went to a contest or to tackle an opponent I didn't see that absolute mongrel and desire to nail his opponent.

On what I saw he is bigger than Watts with a body type which looks like it will build up easier. For mine he is no certainty to go top 10

Sorry Pennant, are you referring to Durdin or Goddard?

Dee luded we need to offer Dangerfield massive dollars to get his attention, and they'd want pick 2 and a player imo

Would we give up pick2 and watts or Howe for danger?

don't think that much would be needed , he will be a free agent end of next year , you might find they will take less to at least get something rather than loose him for nothing next year

Posted

Turner says that every year. Then he conveniently forgets that and says it again a year later about another player.

I found it to be a strange comment on his part, surely McCartin the likely number 1 pick has been more impressive than Goddard, a bloke who will possibly slide outside the top 15

I'm not sure on that one mate, I think there is a huge possibility they're going to back themselves to keep him regardless of what we offer, but if we offer a really good deal like that there is an outside chance they will at least look at it, anxiety over losing players for nothing will become much more potent a weapon in this sort of situation once the compo is scrapped altogether and it becomes a prospect of getting nothing for a star player.

About to post the same thing 'Axis', I wouldn't bother with a thing he says or what Brenton Phillips has to say. Every year the greatest player to come out of the Falcons or finest young leader/prospect from SA is coming into the system. They're just looking to keep a good gig.

I wonder if he got it right with Gary jnr if he was around then?

He was, commented that he felt Luke Hodge at the time was a far more complete player, but reckons Gary Ablett Jr is currently the best player of all time

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
