Current injury / fitness status

I'm confused about Gawn. Not on the injured list, yet from the reports of the intraclub match, he's not fit enough to be played in the ruck either.

I know he needs to build his tank to see out a game, but surely that's improved since last season?

Is he in a similar situation to Jamar, who's also not fully fit yet not on the injured list?

That is the way I see it!

Mixing metaphors maybe .....you are not meaning our former singing flying forward, #24 Robertson Caruso?

saying that reminded me how much I miss Shaun Smith !

Wouldn't it be great to have 2-3 wins by round 5 with the prospect of Garland and possibly Clark returning to boost the line up about that time?

Thinking positive.....

Just because the player doesn't have the tank to play the desirable position doesn't mean they're 'injured'.

Just means they're unfit.

All last year, peterson wasn't injured, he was just fat, so he played vfl for a while or the whole season lol.

Thats probably why they're not on the injured list.

I'd be a bit disappointed if Garland is out until round 6.

I reckon we can possibly get 2 wins out of 5.

Simply, not injured, but yet to regain match fitness

Wow Moonshadow - you all get cut to pieces by many here. Positive thinking is regarded by some as very undemonic.:rolleyes:

Constant demonic failure over a seven year period has beaten it out of a lot of us mono.

But just watch the humor fly if we can beat the Cats on Friday!!!!!!!

We need to gain a bit of inspiration and a bit of G&D from Britain's wartime leader - by no means a perfect man, but universally regarded as an inspiration in times of the most dire need.

Sir Winston Churchill

Never give in. Never. Never. Never. Never.

If you're going through hell, keep going.

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

Then we must have had 30 000 optimists in 2013 mono .

Not sure that I would agree MD

They were both good.

IMO Wells by a short half head.

Different sort of players.

Wells more inside and nuggety and bustling - could take a good grab for someone his height

Alves was more classy and purely outside

They were all inside players in those days.

Tappy lucky to get away with only a couple of weeks.

Clark running well, progressing well with his hammy ....

Sounds like a Neil Balme 426 to me McQueen

Did Riley have a setback, or are they just looking at Casey time? I spoke to him at training a couple of weeks ago and he thought he would be back in full training in a matter of days.

I am sure Georgiou will be the one uplifted if we uplift a rookie.

He's back in the main group as far as I'm aware but will need 8 weeks there to get back to full fitness. I think it's already been a couple of weeks. Look up the last Misson interview about him going on the long term injury list. I believe he said he should be ready to go around round 3 or maybe it was 6. That was a big surprise because when they drafted him they thought it wouldn't be before mid season.

I'd be a bit disappointed if Garland is out until round 6.

ive predicted 4 out of first 5.

my mates have organised a bet with nude consequences .

im still confident and have also said 8th spot.

yeah,i think i had a couple to many.

joanna beach is not to cold that time of the year.

but tourists gawking at my wrinkles ,might be interesting.

at least we can still have a laugh and pretend were happy.

We probably did have that many in 2013 OD! Unfortunately any optimisim was snuffed out within about 10 minutes into the opening game against Port

Injury list per the Age:-

Mitch Clark (hamstring) 2-3 weeks

Chris Dawes (calf) Test

Colin Garland (ankle) 2-4 weeks

Cameron Pedersen (hamstring) 1 week

Aidan Riley* (leg) 6 weeks

Luke Tapscott (knee) 2 weeks

Interesting WJ

No mention of Strauss

Clark 2-3 is this the MFC version of Neil Balme's 426? May I think before we see him saddle up at Casey.

Suggests to me that someone will get upgraded for Riley.

no mention of Viney

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
