McDonald can be a terrible kick, certainly worse than Dunn.

The premise is wrong - McDonald importance has nothing to do with his terrible foot skills, it is in spite of it. That is how good his one on one work is and that is how good his endurance running is - you can't just line up and pick players based on their foot skills.

Generalisations are easy to poke holes in.

the premise id "use of the ball", so that should encompass defence & offence around the ball.

carrying, disposal, setting up play downfield when carrying, spotting up targets by disposal, spoiling Opp's, stopping opponents with the footy, etc.

the only thing that connotation wouldn't cater for would be peeling off to drag opponent away from play, running to open space.

Deluded! he has been better than most in the team over the horror stretch he will have agreat year!

he (dunn) was better last year.

but he hasn't got much upside IMO. I think he'll improve under Roos, as the whole team improves, but his "reluctance" is a cancer we are trying to rid the culture of.

I will cheer if he changes his spots, but i have never seen a hint of it, in how many years.

Tough? Cheap shots don't make a player tough. Dunn has shown a tendency not to go when required in the past. Cheap shots like the elbow were his forte, such acts are only considered tough by the clueless

dropping the head going for marks? losing composure with the ball under pressure at the boundary? soft efforts under the pump? won't put the head over the hard ball?

lets see if he'll change his spots for scales.

I am prepared to give Dunn another chance under our new no-nonsense coach.....if Roos has faith in him who are we to argue.

If Roos can guide / encourage / otherwise enable him to get out his best for a whole season we would have a very very handy versatile skilled all rounder who can play back, tall or mid, tag, or forward.

If Roos can't do this the Lynden may well be on his last contract.

Your idea of 'use of the ball' includes spoiling?

I think you have pushed the parameters of the word 'skills' so far off the mark that you have rendered the term useless.
