Welcome to the Dream Team Demonland Comp for 2014. This is for the NON DRAFT DT leagues.

You know when the AFL season proper is just around the corner when we start talking DT or SC again.

Now in its 3rd year and its 1st year using the promotion system. I hope everyone involved enjoyed being in a very competive league last year . Well done to the 3 coaches that won their respective leagues and took home the GF cup.

Legends League GF Winner = Toumpas' Souvalaki (and overall highest score)

All Stars League GF Winner = Z's r coming

Rookie League GF WInner = Vineys Vindictors

This year will be made up of at least 2 Leagues. Last year we had 3 leagues filled and almost needed a 4th.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join and play. But you do need to confirm your Demonland username along with what name you have decided to call your team for 2014. You do that by posting your team name in this thread. IF you have decided to change your 2013 team name for 2014, just post your 2013 team you used, along with the new team name you are going to use for 2014.

For those that werent involved last year, or to refresh the concept here is how it works.

The 1st league "Legends" will be INVITE only and IF enough coaches return for 2014, 2 leagues could end up being INVITE ONLY.

All the coaches involved from 2013 from all 3 leagues, have had their total scores processed and have been allocated to a league based on the total season points scored. To qualify for the "Legends League" you needed to be in the top 18 Demonland DT scorers from last year. The next League is the next best 18 scores from 2013.

As it stands atm there was enough confimations from 2013 to form 2 leagues for 2014. If you see your team name listed in a league you are required to confirm yourself for this year , you will be notified later with the code to join that league.

The cut off date to confirm yourself will be one week prior to the 1st Dream Team game played , NOT the 1st AFL game. Anyone that fails to confirm in that time, will be replaced with a coach from a lower league. To avoid any confusion or missing out on the league you qualified for. I suggest get yourself confirmed ASAP. It helps me get it all organised.

1st league name = Demonland Legends (The top 18 Demonland DT scorers from 2013)

2nd league name = Demonland Tridents (Formerly The All Stars League)

3rd league name = Demonland Reglegs (Formerly the Rookie League)

More leagues will be available as a 'free for all' with a league code posted in this thread later, allowing for new players. Priority will be given to returning 2013 coaches.Anyone wishing to play DT shouldnt miss out, be part of the fun. Get into a league where you know everyone will play out whole the year. Battle it out with your fellow Demon supporters.

Just post your team name in this threadand you will be allocated into a league somewhere.

PS: I believe a SuperCoach thread for 2014 will start up shortly.

I decided to go for a new look. If this is too hard to read. I will repost it in text format.

Below are the coaches that qualified for the DT "Legends League" for 2014

Take a close look at pic. Its in the same DT layout with the details altered.

Your 2013 team has replaced the real DT player, and the numbers = the total number of pts you scored in 2013

All leagues are subject to changes depending on confirmations. Someone in a lower league may be elevated up to replace a team that

failed to confirm themselves in time for the cutoff.

If you have a band-aid next to your Team name it means you didnt confirmed for 2014.

No probs Al. The rookie league has been renamed to the Reglegs League. I have named all 3 leagues from the 3 Demons Membership packages.

When you decide on your team name repost it asap, no hurry yet. I'll slot you in somewhere. :) Good luck

Sheesh - with the scores coming out of the top 18 we have a good chance cracking the top 10 leagues!

The question remains, can those named in our top league (Legends League) back it up in 2014. If they do I expect them to rattle the top 10+

Confirmation for 2014 are now required. If your name is in one of the 3 leagues then I need to reconfirm everyone is still around for 2014.

If anyone wishes to be added, that wasnt part of DT in 2013 just post your intention to play and we'll add you in.

Before 2014 gets under way I will post how the promotion / demontion system will work.

If any of our 'experts' have some links or advice to help the newbies or those struggling and wanting to improve feel free to share.

DT web site is now open to view all the players prices for 2014.

Perhaps you might want to give some thought to recruiting from the LFL (Womens Gridiron). I'm not sure if any qualify for Chicks U18's. None looked under 18 to me. And they are not affliated with our own Legends League (atm), although perhaps something can be arranged. :) Demonland Legends might be in need of a sponsor?

I take it your post as posting a confirmation on behave of someone without a Demonland username? If so, thats not a problem until I need to verfiy or contact this person.I dont have a Howezat on my database from 2013. PM an email addy if you can. In the meantime I'll stick him/her on the 2b added list.

There looks to be a few coaches without a demonland account, it makes it a lot easlier to organise if they do have one. If I post the codes publically we could have anyone joining the wrong league. Then I have to kick them out and get them in another league. It then gets messy.

If anyone knows someone that is in the Legends league or have qualified for another league, and dont have a Dland account, If they can Pm me their email address I'll contact them. There will be a public DT league (Reglegs?) that everyone will be able to join up and play. I'll post this code in this thread. I'll have a better idea once more confirmations come in and crunch the numbers.

I dont want to confuse anyone BUT we have a choice between 2 Dream Team Sites.

1: AFL Fantasy https://fantasy.afl.com.au/landing/index.html

2: Virtual Sports - .Dream Team http://afldreamteam.virtualsports.com.au/

Virtual Sports are the original creators of Dream Team. Either way we can stick with the AFL and create the leagues from their site, or can setup the leagues in VS web site. I'll go on popular choice amongst our existing coaches to what they prefer. I'm undecided, so I'll go with whatever seems the best choice.

You can setup a team in VS now, and fiddle around with your team. as its open to register. To register a league won't be available for over a week so it seems. Anyone can play both, but what is the preference for our Demonland Comp?

I've only ever used the AFL DT site. Will the total availabale trades be the same? I like the idea of 30 maximum trades as opposed to 2 each week - it makes for a more difficult strategy.

Also, what are the prizes with the VS comp?

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
