No team has been in a position to field so many talls concurrently. Can it work? Should we give it a go? Personally, I'm already salivating at the thought of Hogan attracting the 4th tall defender (aka a back pocket).

Simple. Watts probably moves up the ground occasionally, Clark as 2nd ruck and Fitzpatrick doesn't get a game (Though probably will cause it's very unlikely Dawes, Clark and Hogan would all play 22 games). I highly doubt we could get away with having them all in one team.

There's definitely a number of threads on this already, but Watts will play on the wing and I'm not sure Fitzpatrick will get much of a regular look in.

Not only is Watts likely on the wing, but Clark and Dawes are yet to be seen in the same line-up and this may not change, allowing Fitpatrick to get more than the occassional game, during the extensive period during which they seem to be injured. Maybe we could draft Boyd if we get a priority pick and send Clark to the backline, be kind of nice to have the two tops young forwards in our team (as it seems to have worked for Hawthorn)?

Byrnes only because we lack another decent crumbing forward.

Kent may spend time there.

I also would note that Howe will spend most of his time playing in the middle, but in today's game that often includes someone named on a flank.

Clark to ruck when the ball goes into the forward line, so the ruckman can sit a kick behind play / have a rest.

Fitzy may get left out so we're not too top heavy.

i'd slot Jesse Hogan into Center half forward because he is a running machine, i feel he would add quite alot up the ground with the pace and big body he has

Mitch Clark at Full forward because simply he is the best player we have for that position

fitz and dawes sorta battle it out for the third tall position, dawes leadership probably gets him over the line

howe and blease as half forwards, such different players, and both extremely dangerous when they're on, capable of taking a game away from the opposition

Byrnes in the other pocket as he is a legitimate small forward, has the pace and smarts to sit at clark and dawes feet very well

The forward line is a pleasing sign with the likes off Dawes, Clark, and Hogan. Then having Watts and Howe rotating through from the defense and midfield respectively. I also look forward to seeing what Kent will bring in the future along with Fitzpatrick and Gawn adding some quality depth.

We see people harp on about the possibility of obtaining Boyd if we receive a PP, as much as I would love to see Hogan and Boyd line up together for the next decade I would much rather obtain one or two quality midfielders from a three way trade (Sloane, S. Selwood, D. Swallow, Rockcliff, or Martin) and have improved delivery into that forward line stated above.

Furthermore I hope the club re-drafts Jurrah (late pick) to add to that mix along with the employment of an indigenous ex-player to help aid and guide him back in the system.

We are screaming out for a fast small forward and Nahas should be looked at. He will need to 'see the light' under Roos but he could be a very annoying defensive forward for the opposition.

Its the ease that the opposition move out of our forward that needs to improve. They get it to centre wing in a heart beat before we know it.

I would like to see Sylvia play as a virtually permanent forward with the occasional run in the midfield. He has played some very good footy there, even at CHF( which he clearly isn't). He can lead, take a contested mark, he is an opportunist, and he is a good kick. With the likes of Clark, Dawes and Hogan in the area he could be very dangerous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is he out of contract this year, delisted or likely to be delisted? I've read it somewhere but can't remember.

If we can get him for next to nothing in a trade or pick him up as a delisted free agent I would be for it.

Do you think Mitch Clark will stay with us once his contact is over for a pay cut because his only played for half of his 4 year contract?

In a perfect world he will recover fully then stay and play for less as his current 4 year contract has set him up bloody nicelely.

I can see Howe and Watts rotating through the midfield and HFF much the way Green and Bruce did. The commentators kept screaming for Howe to play as a permanent forward but I felt he played his most productive football under Neeld doing midfield stints.

Fact is that gone as the days of traditional forward line set ups as forwards have to play up the ground with flooding and the forward press. That said I see Hogan and Dawes as our main targets that stay closer to goal and Clark, Fitzy, and Howe/Watts as our link ups forwards. All are good marks, Watts is probably the only one that perhaps falls down in that capacity but his kicking is exceptional and deliver on a platter for goal kickers.

Fitzy will need to improve his rucking to hold a best 22 spot, but he's shown he's got some real talent as a forward. I hope it's not similar to what we saw from Miller for a year.

I certainly hope your right with the miller reference. But hopefully for preice of mind, fitzys impressive work has been in contested marks and that sort of thing. From memory millers were due to bring in manned, easy marks, I remember he got 3 in a few minutes one game, but was then accounted for and went missing for the rest of the game. I like the idea of fitz being a part if our team!

I've suggested it elsewhere but Stokes would be a great addition for us. He can play the small forward role and rotates through the midfield at the Cats. OOC free agent this year.
