Next year is going to be a ripper. Port on the rise, Kanga's will be up and about, GC to improve further, GWS over second year blues plus will have Buddy. Eagles and Crows seeking redemption, Bombers out to prove a point. Tigers for mine will slide out of the eight, Blues to actually take part in trade week, I'm interested to see who the Hawks pick up, has Dusty signed with Tigers yet? Hawks offering similar $$, a more competitive Demon outfit playing accountable footy slowly bringing the crowds back to level 2 of the Southern Stand.

Pretty poor umpiring for a semi final, I thought. The free kick to Schulz late in the third was awful, should have been a free to Rivers for a sliding tackle. The free to Corey in the goal square for 'holding' was worse though, Corey was the one holding.

I don't think I've seen 22 more arrogant players. The way they celebrate goals and whinge about free kicks, the way they appear to feel so entitled to everything, it infuriates me.

It seems to work okay for them though.

Just to demonstrate the insidious corrupting influence of the Carlton Football Club, today is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Its central theme is atonement and repentance and Jews traditionally observe the day with fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. You can't travel by motor vehicle or airplane, use electric power or watch television.

Despite this, I know of several Jewish Carlton supporters who have gone to Sydney to watch their team play in tonight's semi final.

Such apostasy is untenable and must be dealt with by those of high holy standing. There has to be a pestilence and nine other plagues visited on the Carlton Football Club before the end of the day. If we all will it and pray heartily for it to come about, it can happen ... and you don't even have to be Jewish to help contribute to their downfall.

What a game:

- Wines was on fire, saw him get three clearances in a row including being a third man up in the ruck

- Umpiring was pretty pathetic. Alot of illegal disposals by Geelong but never holding the ball; credit to Port though as they didn't let it bother them

- Port lost the game in the third. Geelong had 22 inside 50's to their 5.

Can't wait to see what Port can do next year.

That post made me reach for the dictionary WJ. Can I hire you if I ever need to go to court? ;)

I don't think that's how it works, Jack. I believe punishment is meted out only in the afterlife, and certainly not against whatever sporting team you support. When Judas betrayed Jesus, I'm pretty sure God didn't smite Judas' favourite football side in response.

I can see at least 14 teams getting in to the top 8 next year.

You reckon?

The Jerusalem Jaguars didn't win a game between 32AD and 53AD which was the year that Judas passed on.

You think that was a coincidence?

They must maintain a top 8 and not go to a final 10 scenario. I actually thought 18 teams would spread the talent pool too thin. But the competition is evening out nicely.

18 teams did spread the talent pool too thin. Unfortunately one team got all the crap players.

Not the jaguar animal - the car.

Pontius Pilate's uncle had a dealership.

The Jewels were the lingerie league franchise in those days.

Must have meant theJerusalem Alpacas DC

nah, they played in 2nd division bbo (won a flag or two in the 40s)

i think he's wrong though about not losing a game between 32AD and 53AD

according to a Jeewble search the Giza Giants had all winning points taken off them in 40AD (and awarded to their opponents) for bringing the game into disrepute for placing unsanctioned holy curses on their opponents (see WJACA 40AD)

Tales differ here. I heard that the giants were awarded the points because of an incident involving a player named David. Apparently he felled a giant off the ball. There was also an, I believe outrageous, story that a rock was used.

Tippett done for the night? I think the Swans play better without him anyway as the midfielders kick more goals and it's a better spread with more avenues for goal.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
