The modern Left at work.

How proud they must be.

I don't know why you bother with him, I put him on ignore several months ago. The majority of his posts were stupid cartoons with very little thought put in.

Just had a look at the Defence Ministers tirade on TV about the ABC's reporting about allegations about the behaviour of the Navy and some of those despicable refugees. He is absolutely incensed, didn't speak about this for several days because he needed time to calm down! He is now demanding yet another investigation into the ABC over just this one report from a single reporter in Indonesia. I mean why stop there? Lets have a Royal Commission.

For heavens sake where did they dig this David Johnston up from? As a defence minister, I am worried if someone takes a shot at his beloved Navy, he will declare war on the nearest suspect country and start shooting.

At the moment we are looking at wall to wall royal commissions, inquiries and reviews, like we really need another inquiry into a single ABC report. Gee I thought the Adults were in charge or did I get that wrong? Did they mean the dolts?

But Hood, don't you think the ABC should have some affection for the home team?

Where have all the patriotic hard nosed investigators gone??

It's almost like he is trying to outdo himself on the "surely he is taking the [censored] now" front.

LIke this recent gem: "All we've had from the Labor Party in the Parliament is relentless negativity, and scare after scare after scare."

I announce Tony Abbott as winner of the Ultimate Pot Calling Kettle Black Award. Congrats Tony.

Don't forget when he went to Davos and panned the stimulus package. Or when Scott Morrison went to the senate committee and started rattling on about the previous government's border protection policies.

The is now an anti government. It's not for anything. It's merely against things.

Yes a profile of a man's man just like Alexander Puttin don't you think? Interestingly, Robbie that we are now seeing Tony in the sea, no buggie smugglers, now he hangs out with the cool surfing set, incognito. however we now never see him in fluoro vest, hard hat and safety glasses, arm in arm with manufacturing workers. He was their mate before September, now he is pouring absolute Shyte all over them. Greedy fat cats now apparently! Shyte who would want a fair weather friend like Tony Abbott, I ask? Anti intellectual, Rhodes Scholar, economic illiterate who studied economics. He certainly is a complex man, our Tony.

Who's Alexander and what's golf go to do with it; why would Tony have a Buggie if he wasn't playing golf too?

Was he incognito or was he hanging with the cool surfing set; maybe they were playing surf golf.

Finally how much have you had to drink tonight?

Ok it is Vladimir, my mistake and budgie (predictive script issues). he was according to the Age hanging out with surfies behind the break, incognito, like they did not know he was there but of course all the media were waiting on the beach for him to come in.

Not sure where your golf reference comes in? Birdie, golf buggy? Anyway when do you think we will see Tony with his mates in the various factories he kept going for years up to September, warning them of the wrecking ball, Carbon Tax, only now to walk away as if he never met them. It is now their fault.

Btw, how outrageous to propose using children in adult matters. Brilliant Left thinkers...

Socialists discuss the danger of looking like socialists at a protest:

EAST West Link protesters admitted they are losing the “propaganda war"…

Almost 30 protesters attended a three hour strategy meeting held at Fitzroy Pool on Alexander Parade yesterday afternoon, floating ideas to ramp up the anti-tunnel campaign.

Tactics raised included parents bringing their children to boost numbers, questioning police at picket events, not allowing workers to leave drill sites and
.

Socialists split, with some objecting to a socialist sounding too working class:

Socialist Party member Mel Gregson co-chaired the meeting with serial activist Anthony Main.

Bizarrely Ms Gregson told the crowd divisions had grown among the protesters in respect to political ideologies as well as media tactics. She said
some members of the group had raised an issue with Mr Main being the media spokesman because of his ‘bogan’ accent

Puttin and Buggie. It's Putin and Budgie, never mind.

Well I doubt he'll be able to attend every factory in Australia that's in danger of closing down.

it's the job of the Government to create the environment for business to thrive and consequently employ more staff, taking the carbon tax imposition off them is a good start.

I note you didn't mention his CFA duties or the fact that he will still spend a week a year in an indigenous community I guess that doesn't fit in with the rest of your rant.

Abbott is a decent human being and a much better balanced Prime Minister than the last two who were more about themselves than the people the purported to represent. One was a psychopath who had one face for the public and another in private and the other one is involved in pending criminal proceedings and was only interested lies and deceit.

At Work in our Detention Centres.
Very interesting piece and a snapshot into the human cost of these policies. I have heard similar from a nurse who once worked at Woomera (thank God that has closed).
On another note, should we start a thread on asylum seekers? A lot of the discussion on here has been taken up by that.

Thankfully, the human cost is being saved under Abbott as less people attempt to get here.

Lots of lives saved.

Yes your right I forgot about his good work with the local CFA, gee I should have been on to that, and his love for his mother and Grand Mother and all the love he has for his wife and daughters as well.

. Thanks for reminding me what a great family man he is. And there is no doubt he is a man of action, never ending movement and interaction. But what has that got to do with his political decisions, his pathological hatred of anyone who opposes him and his obsession to destroy his political opponents. I see him as a very dangerous ideologue, who in league with Ruppert (El Diablo) Murdoch would love to transform the political landscape to see his party rule forever.

Make no mistake whatever Tony does is all about Tony and his ultimate pursuit of power.he is just as obsessed as Rudd and Gilliard. I won't be canonising him any time soon myself. But Cardinal Pell, his mentor may beg to differ of course with my thinking.

Stupid and undeserving of a rebuttal.

I give in there are no redeeming features and I thought there might be.

What was it that Tony Windsor said that Tony Abbott said to him during negotiations during the hung parliament in 2010?

I remember Keating in an interview with the ABC describing him in his early days in parliament as the resident nutter. I wonder if they were going to put in the bit in that glowing puff piece about how he used to wander the chambers of parliament shadow boxing with himself?

That, along with:

"If Tony Abbott ends up the Prime Minister of Australia, you've got to say, God help us. Truly, an intellectual nobody, with no policy ambition."

"Where is the thought-out position? Turnbull had an articulated, intellectual, moderate, thought-out conservative position. The fact is that Abbott does not have this."

I find it pretty funny how even in an article attempting to show Tony's fluffy budgy wearing side, quotes taken from him include swipe after swipe at his predecessors. He is symptomatic of everything that is wrong with politics in this country. He clings to overwhelming negativity like a safety blanket. The problem now is that he is having to answer for his own actions, and almost without exception is coming up dismally short.

Let's wait and see what the budget looks like with no cuts to key areas as he has promised. If he finally manages to keep a promise, I'll just about fall over. M-m-Maybe it won't be g-g-gospel truth and he can st-st-stammer his way through another defense of his b-b-[censored].

This will sound mean... but I'm guessing the same people who were so gung ho about stopping the boats, scrapping the carbon tax and cutting the deficit will be the same people who will howl like a scalded dog when Tony takes an axe to their middle class welfare.

The biggest problem we have with politicians in this country, and this is a problem on the mainstream right and left, is that no one is prepared to take any leadership and always try to govern by consensus exclusively. Be it the boats, middle class welfare or negative gearing, our leaders will just do what is politically safe. Which leaves us with politicians like Abbott. A weather vain of a politician who taps into people's worst fears and exploits them for political advantage.
