Im not much of a thread starter but i wish one of you die hards would start one on Williams, choco has acomplished the same things that Roos has, the guys climbed the mountain, i would love to see him in the coaches box, we can only pray he says yes, guys like Roos and Worsfold wont coach us because we havnt got the funds.

I would love to see Choco in Red and Blue, he might be abit of a nutter but he develops players fantastically well, our underachievers like Watts, trenners, tapscott and so on might well really take some strides under his guidance, we do have a good amount of talent for him to work with.

and Jesse Hogan would be enough to have most prospective coaches keen to consider us.

Robbo just mentioned on 360 that he thinks Eade might be the front runner.

Geraldo said we should triple check with Roos that he is out of the race. (How many time do u ask someone if they want a job?)

Twice is enough for mine.

Based on his experience and his winning % in the regular season and finals Williams is the front runner but is it possible he may NOT want it? This would suprise me but this is Melbourne and u never know.

I wonder why tab/sportsbet has suspended all betting on the coaching of MFC?

A- they have no bloody idea what's going on!! Last week roos was $1.75

B- They know something we don't!

Not again this is really giving me the [censored].

What would they know with Roos having said no we won't be announcing anyone as coach now especially that we haven't spoken to anyone yet FFS.

It's a strange situation but we can say with reasonable confidence that

a. we won't know who will coach us until the season is over

b. it will be one of Roos, Eade, Williams and Craig

any i think will be a great get, but the recruiting off season will be far more important, if we don't adress our midfield needs well, jesus christ himself couldn't turn this ship around.

U still reckon Roos is a chance?

Absolutely mate, simply because where there is smoke there is fire, so many people were so confident he would coach us for quite some time, even a week ago, some high profile people were confident so it's entirely possible there is something we don't know going on there

Having said that, i'd rather Williams or Eade.

Im with you mjt, im hoping Williams gets the job.I would be filthy if Eade was our next coach.

My conspiracy theory is action jackson is easing the expectations of Roos coaching us with his comments today. A selection committee is formed for the sake of it but Roos is the only man in the hunt. Essendrug did the same thing before Hird was finally announced as their pharmacist/coach. Choco was interviewed for the job but was never in the hunt because the Hird deal was done. Choco was even $1.70 favourite at one stage http://www.bet-au.com/aussie-rules/next-essendon-bombers-coach-latest-betting-odds-as-mark-williams-is-170-favourite.htm.

My logical theory is Roos doesn't want the job and was never interested and has d!cked around with twisted comments because he is a bit of a [censored].

The short and sweet of it is who bloody knows?

TBH I'm not so sure that Roos is still a chance but we will find out by the end of the season.

One things for sure we will have a coach that can actually coach, about time.

Id like Williams, Roos is fine, Im just not feeling it with Eade, seems he just cant get that final step up the mountain. Maybe we're it. I dunno.

Seems ironic Roos stepped in to fix it up after Eade...somewhat poignant in the circumstances.

It's fantastic isn't it, with so much of next years total club make up still up in the air to know we are heading for better things is a much better position to be in than we have been previously!

Well perhaps in your eyes but there a re a hell of a lot of things done in this world because of perceptions.

Jobs, fashion, real estate, investments ( and the list goes on...for quite a ways ) are more often than not worked to perceptions. A lot of FOREX trading esp is almost 90% perception 5% quesswork and the rest someone might know something.

To cast aside the value of perceptions and their knock on worth I think is folly.

A lot of people may or MAY NOT invest of their time and /or money to this club depending upon what they consider valid outcomes. A little group called SPONSORS especially fall into this group. Its bang for buck for them. All based upon extrapolated outcomes based upon.......perceptions as of the time.

Keep bashing the brand/( insert call it what you like ) and there is definitely harm done.

Conversely, talk it up, show it off to advantage, create a good vibe about the place and people join in , people spend.

The whole ADVERTISING industry is built upon perceptions.

It mightnt affect your decision making much RPFC but id suggest youre in the minority group of this outlook.

Youre not wrong of course, as it affects you.

You haven't convinced me that perception should dictate decisions - which is what is being argued.

An ultimatum to a prospective coach because of what the perception of that by the public at large is not good decision making.

You want a well run club?

Stop worrying about little things like whether or not a prospective coach's dithering on coming to the club is hurting the brand.

We need to worry about getting tangible things right before we dress up the unique process of headhunting an experienced head coach.

My Collingwood mates rated Neeld.

We can do without what our mates think.

No doubt, I can think for myself too. But when I asked the question why do so many believe Roos is so far ahead of Choco , part of someone's response was 'his friends are happy to get rid of him' so along with some relevant facts I threw that in. Is it of any relevance ....no, that's why I put it in , to show exactly that.

What is Roos role with basketball Australia , motivator or tactician?

I couldn't agree more. Choco has mongrel in him but is smart enough to articulate his point of view to the media and players without getting them offside like old Mark "line in the sand" Neeld..

You evade what happens. thats your perogative

you of all people then come with a straw argument..please,.... go away with it

Billions are spent on looks, on perception, thats the way of the world , like it or not.

What straw argument? That was the argument.

Roos is dithering and/or dismissing. It is hurting our brand.

I would argue, in fact I did, that it is irrelevant and unimportant. I also said that significant decisions should not be brought to the alter of public perception for their conclusion.

You don't have to agree, just don't say I evade.

You could argue that Roos stringing us along is hurting his brand?

he portrays himself as a very honest and loyal sort of guy, and he is either lying to the public or at best misleading and does want to coach us, or he is leaving the door ajar on purpose because it somehow fuels his ego that we are chasing him.

either way i think the fact we are chasing the best coach so hard balances it out, we are finally showing we are serious about becoming a force in the comp again.

aww what..no like if pulled up ?

The argument thats bogus , or rather events as result of circumstances that you wont concede is that wen the circus comes to town and we are chief clown then there is no hurt to the club.

Despite the idea we will finally be governed on the field by qualified personel in 2014 that currently we are a train wreck only just keeping to the rails. That, and that many consider that a detrimental quality.

This comes back to perceptions of those surrounding this event but you ,you , dont think this has weight.

wear it .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
