WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Featured Replies

Hate to say it but relying on MFCSS to keep me sane throughout all this.

If god forbid it doesn't happen then MFCSS will get me through it....

...and Demonland of course!

My summation:

  1. The MFC will announce this, not Paul Roos OTC
  2. The meeting with the players was about Watts/Sylvia staying on board
  3. his comments re poaching Sydney people made me certain that he will take who he likes from Swans once in the seat
  4. he hasn't changed his stance with the media one bit from the first questions OTC in June, "at the moment"
  5. he has now discussed contract/terms etc with PJ, he hadnt last week
  6. GH knows he's 100% and wished Roos would announce OTC but it was never going to happen so why not poke the bear for fun
  7. something has soured for him in Sydney, he will keep the facts to himself

done deal - at a time and place agreed by Melbourne/Roos, not by the media

Everyone needs to relax, have a nice cup of tea and calm down.

He does not want to make a decision before or during the BnF because he believes that that night is for the 2013 season. Roos has at all times been very respectful to the coaches in control, ie Craig at this time. He does not want to take away anything from him on that night.

Nothing but 100% convinced he is coaching us next year after watching that!

Waiting for the wife to come back is a ruse..............he knows, the wife knows, and PJ knows he is in, it will be fine tuning the deal, and organising the announcement at the front of their minds at present!

Bring on 2014!!!!

So we think he's buying time as instructed by the club and by his own desires? but in fact, he has already signed, got a house in Toorak, and his wife and kids aren't in Bhutan they are actually in Bakers Delight buying bread down at Richmond?

Roos: "Did I say Bhutan? sorry, I meant Laburnum... I'm always getting those places mixed up!"

PJ is too smart to postpone interviews this week if there is even a chance he will pull out, remember things are getting important now, we need a coach in the next two weeks really.

If he pulls out, who's keen for a cult gathering and some poison Gatorade?

Surely if he wasn't going to coach us, he would have just said "No, i've thought about and spoken to my wife...and we've decided against it. Sorry'...etc why carry on with the talk of 50/50, and why pay a visit to the leadership group.

Whisper is that Cameron Ling as an assistant is part of the package.

Hopefully as a midfield specialist in lieu of our current failed one

Hope he can coach, 2 million is massive bucks.

Maybe you would like a "performance linked" salary - say $100K per win? Would have been a bargain this year :-)

When Roos comes down the race, members need to do the "ROOOOOOOS" chant.

...but not if we play Norf Melbourne

Funny moment during Sundays game, last quarter, behind the goals, when the Crowds murmured "Roos, Roos, Roos" and then went quiet again... like out of "The life of Brian".

Very funny.

this is going to be a bloody long week.

It's Kool-Aid dude. You drink the Kool-Aid.

Oh yeah......

We can't go on doing this for another eight days. Everyone should just accept nothing is going to happen yet, and get back to doing something else. Life goes on, what happens will happen.

Omg, omg, we are soooo going to get

To 200 pages on this thread ;)

After watching OTC the one thing you can be certain of is there will be decision made by Tuesday or Wednesday Next week.

Roos said he had discussed with wife and son on Sunday prior to them going on holidays to Bhutan. No decision was made at that point and wife and son would think on it whilst away and come back with their thoughts on a decision.

Colless talks of Swans possible oblivion in 2002. Interesting how the wheel can turn. Also talks of a $200k profit this year after winning the main prize last year!! Eye opening interview.

Seems to me after watching Roos tonight that he's a done deal, dancing around the edges of a negotiation that has been going on for a littlen while now. Talking about waiting for his wife to make the decision for him seems to be a delaying tactic as he / his agent get the final bits of the deal sorted out.

The one thing that I thought was interesting was that roos said he met the leadership group, but made sure that Neil Craig new that he was doing it. But Neil Craig said before the game yesterday that he didn't know anything about Roos meeting the players. I'm sure it means nothing but if both those statements are true, it's an indication that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about...

I also can't believe that our players asked to meet him if they didn't think he was going to coach us, and secondly that he would agree if he didn't think he would be coaching them.

He does strike me as having the players' welfare at the forefront of his mind. He wouldn't want to play with the players' emotions like that, and he also wouldn't waste his time meeting a bunch of nobodys if he didn't want to reassure them that he is coming and that they should stick around.

You would think mike and Gerald would know 100% if his coming.. I know for a fact all of the program's are pre-rehersed with what they will chat about. So Roos would of known the questions coming at him.

I'd suggest that's a big part of it, get contracts for col and Watts moving in the right direction, get frawley and hogan considering extensions

The biggest thing that I gleaned from it is that his time at Sydney has soured, and he is looking to be away from Sydney.

I think he will come, I think the presser will be next wednesday.

This next week will kill half our members

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
