Most of yo stuff is good. We need a "mongrel"president who is going to get things done and if that person stands on toes so be it.If the supporter or the elitist don't like it they should bug off. I am sick of "cream puffs" running the club.

Actually what is Neil Craig's function at the club?To me he is a waste of "space". Money for nothing like the our polies.

Once again I say to the supporter don't be frighten if a Jeff Kennett style of president gets the No.1 job.

Also mentioned before certain players are untouchable (can't be dropped Sylvia,Jamar and ....), MFC be very careful the likes of Gawn may p.ss off to the likes of St.KIlda f.c.

What don't you like the weekly Craig report, it's very informative....

I think its a very premature statement by CW to call MN getting the boot at the end of this month - particularly considering we are playing WBD and St Kilda next. A win, which isn't that far fetched, from either of those clubs would keep him in there for a bit longer.

geez 600K just handed to you, 10 years of the average wage,as a reward for being an utter failure.. not a bad line of work this coaching stuff

How do you know it's the payout amount?

How do you know there will be any payout amount?

A bit simplistic, yeah?

The only point from the article that I agree with is about how are list is in a similar position to GWS. I've been trying to make this point for some time in all the sack Neeld/keep Neeld threads (please I don't want to start another one here).

If we are truly rebuilding, it makes sense that we would be in a similar position to the expansion clubs development wise. GC started 0-14 last season, in the second year of their existence. GWS has no wins to date in its second year. We have just one in the 2nd year of our rebuilding using the GC and GWS approach.

it is obvious to everybody that we are an utter shambles at present. Sack everybody, change the mascot, change the jumper, burn down the MCG. Get us much distance between the bucket of terds that we currently are and our future incarnation, I say.

well it has to be at least that much just knowing what coaches make

I don't think ANYONE is contesting whether in fact we will have to pay out his contract

bit obvious yeah?

I think Caro definitely has some inside info and it is my view most of her inside info comes from the AFL. In turn she writes some things in her columns that the AFL want to get out into the public.

Things could move very quickly from here on in!

I have it on good authority that Caro's main source is Andy himself.

Thats correct. Her source is AFL house.

Have heard that myself too!

The last time I was in China during the football season, 186 happened and Bailey was sacked...I depart for a couple of weeks in China, leaving next Thursday.

So you are the problem hardtack!

Today truly is the first step back for us. We need to do large scale renovations on many areas of this club. Not all as there might be some talent still lurking around and it would be foolhardy to throw them away. To do this we need money. It will also show how capable PJ is. It will take one hell of a performance to convince headquarters that we are worthy of this. As I have said before, if you look at this on cold hard statistics and logic then the answer to our funding requests should quite frankly be no. We went from zero debt, healthy-ish playing list, good facilities and growing membership at the end of 2010 to what we are today. And why did this come about? Due to petty squabbles between an admin who had never won anything and a coaching department who, while having their own faults, were being undermined by said admin and rather than front the board, buddied up to the playing group.
Let's just hope the ball starts rolling today. I can't take any more horrible surprises.

This forum is all opinion and hearsay.

Why should his contract be paid out?

The blue print means he may stay.

I don't think you're qualified to talk about payouts, with all due respect.....

It may not be a particularly hard sell by PJ as he is likely (unofficially) an AFL appointment. I'm sure he has kept the AFL posted on his findings during his review. I doubt there will be any huge shocks to the AFL in his presentation.

What a load of twaddle, what good authority?..........

Moderators, i strongly agree with the stance about inter personal abuse. It pathetic, boorish and tedious to the extreme. However there has also been a big increase in outrageous and disgusting comments such as the one above about spitting in CS face. Foul and should not be tolerated. I searched for the report button to no avail. I know biffen has form but based on his suspension surely HH deserves a a long ban.Too much.

The next time anyone wants to joke about the 'feral' supporters of other clubs they might want to pause and re read some of pathetic posts on DL from a small but unfortunately vocal minority

I hope so. I guess it also depends on the noises he has been getting back from AFL House as well. There is also a possibility that he has been telling AD this and has been given a poker face.

The report button is to the left of the 'Multiquote' button. If you hover your cursor above it, it lights up.

Does anyone know what time the met is and if there will be any announcements today or over the weekend?

Thanks, but does not seem to be the case for me. Can i ask you to report for me?

Interesting quote in the article written by Caro in The Age. "Jackson's brief presentation will outline the club's plight, which is seen by the AFL as not terminal but desperately in need of a complete football restructure. The view is that Melbourne's list is being compared with that of Greater Western Sydney"

Well that's weird.

I would, but I think that's been done already. The offending line has been removed from the post.

I deleted it myself, you can stop crying now and stay on topic.

So what are you expecting then?....the usual, Neeld, Craig, and all the coaches sacked, Connolly sacked, mass resignation of the Board......which bits will you accept not happening?

Again, you were there, were you?......er we still have good facilities, the playing list has actually improved, the debt is due to a payout to a CEO and a fine, coupled with less membership and a couple of poor attendances (similar to St Kilda, Bulldogs, NMelb in this bit)

Does anyone know what time the met is and if there will be any announcements today or over the weekend?

Meeting started at 9.30 am according to the AFL website. May not be announcements today but maybe Caro may report something in the Age tomorrow if there has been no news?

You need to get there early WYL, they play it every week!

But you are right, bring on the planned changes to get us on the right track. Today could be defining for our club, even if it goes largely unnoticed. I'll take any hand out we can get off it will get us closer to a flag.

We've had that many potentially 'defining moments' over the last few years I'm not overly excited by today. Whatever changes are made it will not mean massive change in the short term.

Lets hope that whatever they are, they are for once the correct type.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
