This is an interesting article by Phil Carmen about coach's v players attitude.

its does make reference to us at the moment but in a fair way which is a nice change.

I think the message in the article is very clear, irrespective of the coach its really up to the players to d what is right by themselves and the club. Though he does say the philosophy of the coach can influence the style a side plays, which is true.

A teams performance begins with the effort of the players.

The system elevates that quality to its great heights. That is the coaches task.

Good systems (related to philosophy of the coach ) accomplish some extraordinary performances.

Regrettably the poor system can produce a result lesser than the output of the players.

Neeld has not shown any ability to lift our team performance beyond the effort of the players.

I don't think we read the same article... The one I read talked about a coach's influence on the playing group, not the individuality of effort in players.

But I guess everyone will read into it differently depending on what they want it to say about Neeld.

To me it did talk about the coaches influence, however to me the essence was the player attitude. I wasn't looking for what it said about Neeld, as Phil says a change of coach may not make any difference because of player attitude. That I think has been evident with us since the later Danniher to Bailey era. When the standards and expectation increased and we didn't notice which was further illustarted by the comments by Dawes and the departure of certain players. We are still playing catch up.

Not 100% and i was not trying to make keep/dump Neeld thread. I think Neeld has the right direction goal in changing the culture of the club, as you can see what he wants to achieve. But I'm not 100% sure if he is the coach to do it given what has happened in the last 12 months as its been Sh%t. But to change a culture it requires more than a coach, its a whole club change and given the current state of our FD and board how do we really know?

Same when Daniher took over. But I think it both us and the pies in the above we had the cattle an class to do it. That was a matter of play under performing according to ability. Sadly that's not our problem at the moment.

A potential "saviour" Roo's. When he took over Sydney it was a far more successful team having played in a GF not long before. His legacy was to build a great culture, but it started on success not where we currently sitting.

Isn't this why we sacked Bailey and gave Neeld instructions to change the culture and bring the club up to an elite standard? Perhaps he needs to be given the time to complete the job.

Perhaps. Sadly though, we no ,longer have the luxury of time. We burnt that concession ticket sometime ago

Have a read of the article and see how quickly a great coach can turn it around. You don't have to get worse.

Who said Bailey was sacked because he was not coaching up to an elite standard?

He was sacked because of a lot of back room (old boy) politics that brought about '186'.

The players would have bled for him.....

Neeld simply brought in the 'mantra' about being an 'elite' team and unfortunately a lot have followed him without scrutinising the changes and results he has produced.

I don't see anything elite about Neeld except his arrogance.......which the MFC doesn't need while sitting at the bottom of the ladder.

We need a coach who can make each player on our list believe that as a team they can take on and beat anyone.

The reality is that Neeld can't even get them to believe in the game plan........even after 18 months of being there!!!!!!

It's time to close this chapter on the MFC and get a coach that identifies with the talent we have and can develop it.
