Game Day Thread - Hawks v Daemons

Never cared less about the team I love than I do today.

I didn't say this earlier but if it's already been leaked that Neeld will be sacked tomorrow, we are a disgrace. Sure the bloke isn't the answer and things are just getting worse under his leadership but treat him with some decorum and don't publicly humiliate him.

Watts!!!!! Too slow to kick.

Slow to kick as the side is slow to get into space.

Bruce has switched from lead commentator to head cheerleader.

He becomes highly-aroused once the floodgates begin to open.

McKenzie... Not AFL standard

Agree this guy is a dud. And the fact Joel Macdonald got a game says the white flag alone.

Fitzpatrick trying but is another dud pick.

[censored] hallelujah!

Well done Garlo, that's how you play on and take the game on. And good work from Dawes!

Attention all others... Watch garland take the game on and follow his lead

Sad thing is possession-wise and tackle wise, we are doing ok. Score line like this you'd think we would be 100 possessions back

He humiliated himself, who would recruit Rodan, not one club in the league except our whack job, i cant see how they can fix this, if i was Sylvia i would be gone.

Wait so decision making is not the coach's domain?

Is Neeld out there? Is he there to tell idiots like Fitzpatrick and McKenzie what to do? No, he's not. He can tell them all the right things during the week, but he can't replicate gameday no matter what he does, and players who are not natural footballers like Fitzpatrick and McKenzie, who cannot make the transition to the speed, pressure and intensity of AFL football, are prone to making bad decisions.

Decision-making is not as easily coached as tackling, clearance work, positioning, or even ball-skills. It's innate, and our players wholly lack it. It's up to them to learn from their mistakes and get better.

Neeld has a raft of other issues he can be responsible for.

Presser should be good

Neeld should come out necking a champagne bottle tonight.

It's all over. Make it a party.

It's not his fault Garry Lyon hired him.

Neeld was on the right track. He is just not experienced enough to be the Head Coach of this leaderless list.

WE NEED THE BEST COACH IN THE LAND.

Thats the massive problem that MFC and the AFL face, your in a line with about 80,000 people.

We try and try and try and then stands a lone man inside their forward 50, even when we've loaded up the back half.

How does that happen?

Might be clutching at straws, but the intent is a lot bloody higher than we've seen all year. But Dawes misses that, then a bail miskick, they just break spirit.

Very pleased with our performance today

Love how Buddy can just crash into Frawley's back and it's play on...

Amen. Absolute crap.

Even the ball hates us the way it's bouncing!

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
