Casey Scorpions v Williamstown

Featured Replies

Posted

This week the Casey Scorpions host Williamstown in a Saturday evening/night match with the senior game starting at 6.00pm at Casey Fields. The curtain raiser between the development league teams starts at 3.00pm.

Conditions promise to be a warmish but windy so anything could happen.

The team selections have not yet been released, presumably because of the public holiday.

Happy seeing Toumpas up there too. Should be too classy for this level, but needs to get some confidence back into his game.

Mystery injury to Clisby?

Mystery injury to Clisby?

Exactly what Jimmy Toumpas told me yesterday at training, asked him where he was playing and immediately said "Casey", Club wants him to have a run, and enjoy, "my confidence took a bit of a hit, just looking at enjoying footy and having a run"

Clisby didn't take part in training yesterday, didn't get chance to ask him, left on the Golf Cart with Mitch Clark, looked to be walking ok, this is new regime working, probably reported something and was immediately pulled out of training

Didn't realise Casey had lighting, tempted to go but not sure I can make the commitment to driving down and back at that time of night.

Good side for Casey, back them to get over Williamstown.

I wonder if Gillies will actually play on a HFF. He can't be any worse there than he is in the back half.

Looking forward to reading what has become a weekly live play by play of Hogan lighting it up.

Have been to a couple of night games down there in the past couple of years.......They are very good nights.......Although I did watch from the bar at the presidents dinner.....

Williamstown look pretty good, I'd keep the hands in the pockets.

Was Mitch walking at all. Golf cart = me going into meltdown. S put me out of my misery or am I jumping at shadows here.

Good advice H_T

I hope everyone remembers the emergencies for the MFC side will be in Brisbane

So no Strauss,Nicholson or Spencer in at Casey this week.

All played very good games last week for Casey

curious as to why you think the 3 emergencies will be in brisbane od

they should be able to make up their mind by sat morning surely

i'm tipping 1 emergency to brisbane

Blease named on the field for the Dees... and on the field for Casey??

Very unusual - they're usually named for Casey if they're put on the extended bench for seniors.

Game is not till late Sunday dc.

Want a small wager they take 3

He's quick, but I doubt he's that quick. Something is amiss.

Wonder if Clark will travel? B)

He was walking but he had a moon boot on, obviously easing the pressure on the foot, was laughing and joking with the Fitness Staff whilst they watched training, so definitely not worried by it....... cart was going back, so easier than walking

There is nothing amiss, do you really think that Brisbane don't know who played well at Casey last week and might get a call up, MFC have named an extended squad, may as well keep Brisbane guessing at the line up until an hour or two before the game

i was wondering whether you thought there was 3 players under an injury cloud or something

i hope every time the seniors play after casey they aren't going to hold back 3 emergencies

that's not usual unless there is a reason, hence my question

dc if my memory serves me I am fairly confident this has happened numerous times in the past with interstate games.

I think is more a case of covering things like the flu than having three suspect players.

Could you imagine if we only took 1 emergency, and 2 or 3 players woke up the morning of the Brisbane game with food poisoning? I would MUCH prefer to carry players interstate without a game, than keep them here and risk us having less than 22 players fit for a football game and looking like the most amateur club in the comp.

maybe,

that's part of the reason i asked the question

things like flu and food poisoning could occur without travelling interstate

so why 3? why not 2 or 4 or 5?

with viney being rested it looks like we will be resting 4 players (assuming od is correct) who are close to selection

i wonder if there are any statistics across all clubs as to what constitutes "normal practice" in this situation

i'd just hate for anyone to think we were tanking list managing :)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
