Haha ... your telling us not to get to excited! ...."Going to be one of our best players by the end of the year"

Think Travis Johnston, for a couple of years he was one of best players, but he'd do 1 or 2 things a game that would were high risk and cost us badly.

Watts and Dunn were both big improvers last year and will continue on as will Sylvia. My view on the most marked improver however (judging from training reports and the NAB Cup) will be Sellar.

Our new forward set up could be of great benefit for Howe. With the main defenders looking elsewhere I think he can do some serious damage.

agreed but he has already announced himself, so if he improves further it may be more about the the rest of them, than him.

I'm looking for those who have been under achievers, or haven't announced themselves yet.

the biggest rise in team improvements.

interupted preseason

Ah the old IPS - every player's golden ticket to having a bad year. It used to be if you were considered match fit, you played, and you were expected to be at your best. We should have a little asterix next to every player's name denoting some sort of setback, no matter how minor, in the preseason, just so we can know that player is not expected to do anything. Not a go at you specifically, but everyone who trots out that line.

Though Watts seems to be the obvious choice, I'm going to pick a smokey in Michael Evans. May struggle for a spot but he may make the most of it if given a run. I really rate him.

Dunn the Gunn will be most improved IMO now he has been given the opportunity that best suits his skills Also he is one of the fittest in the team, has obviously worked hard under Neald and responded to the new team requirements

Welcome back Semen!! yes thank you

Whilst the faithful know how good Grimes is I think a consistent improvement in him will see him as an elitist leader and carrier across half back this year. His read of the play is excellent and is not afraid to run carry and switch play.

Love to see Jetta start to fire, 'Where's the cash Neville....'

I voted for Tapscott. There were a few games towards the end of last year where you could really start to see why the FD see him as a half forward type. Strong, good overhead, smart with the footy and very courageous. Now with a bigger fitness base, less injury concerns and more talent around him in the forward line, I can really see him taking a big step this year...

I am amazed Sellar has been picked 10 times, if it was not for that game against Port I bet no one would have picked him. I don't think he will be able to cement a spot in the team now with Dawes and Clark. He would be brought in for depth or as a 2nd/3rd ruckman. However there may be times when we want three key forwards (in this case it would be him vs Pederson). I don't see him fitting in the backline we have enough tall timber back there.

Not a bad call, I think if he improves his endurance (which may require him to slim down) he could play a Chappy role - rotating forward flank and midfield

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
