Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

MELBOURNE will be given permission to blood its key defensive hope Jesse Hogan in the VFL next year, giving fans a glimpse of what they will see in 2014.

The 17-year-old was secured in a trade with Greater Western Sydney and in a worst-case scenario could be the sole star selection for the Demons from this year's draft process.

Totally expected with the way Viney was treated as a 17yo.

That'll make going to Casey all the more exciting in 2013.

'defensive hope' ....isn't he a forward?

I thought so but Casey will be worth watching

Defensive? HACKS!

A simple fact- Hogan is a Forward you goons. If the newspaper idiots can't even get this right, what can we expect on more critical topics? Any ideas Ms Wilson?

On topic, it will be great that he can be developing and skilling up at Casey towards a rapid injection into the seniors in 2014.

Btw- worst case scenario: guesswork by the same genius that know where Hogan plays...

Hope he starts smiling. I remember Scully never smiled...

Actually, this isn't completely wrong as while he is predominantly a forward, he has played a fair bit at CHB. A couple of my colleagues have watched him play and one of them thinks that this would be his best position but of course, that's deabatable. Have a look at his highlights and you will see him taking marks in the backline.

In any case, next year is all about development, so the FD can play him wherever they see fit. It might be easier for a 17y.o. to find his way playing CHB.

He was selected as an All-Australian in the Under 18s as a defender, I think this is where the confusion arises.

Will look forward to seeing him develop his game at Casey!

Slightly off-topic, but who's coaching Casey next year? Not sure if it hasn't been decided or I missed it along the way...

Plus his results from the combine were up with the midfielders, also in his highlights I noticed whenever he takes a mark (being forward or back ) how quickly he runs back of his mark , looking to move the ball on straight away. Looks a huge talent!

Being able to play in the backline is a great assett to his game.

Probably shows he has some footy smarts also ;-)

Dustin Martin says hello, means nothing.

I stand corrected. I have only seen him spoken about as a KPF, and seen highlights of same. I would have thought this was a more 'accepted' description- but if he could be a super CHB, then I would also not be disappointed....

Gee I thought someone would have had a shot at Ralphys jibe about the worst case scenario for Melbourne that he may be the only star pick up in this years draft.

What a Moron.

But...hang on...we'd better decide whether he is forward or back, because if he's a defender and we play him at FF, then that's tanking.

He's just put up a picture of the number 1 locker and is saying it will be his home for the next three years.

Nice choice, Jess.

Only 3??

more like 15 years! :)

I don't like the way that he has specifically said 'three'

I don't know if I am just paranoid or used to it or if I am actually sensing something when I say that I do not think that he seemed overly excited when he was picked up by the Dees.

And yes, I am yet to also see the kid smile. Lets hope he makes some buddies at the club.

Oh FMD

We lost 1 player to an unprecedented deal and came out the other side as huge winners (on the surface)

Surely we don't need 3 years of people speculating Hogan will leave because he didn't smile

Christ.....

FFS.

I know you're the poster that most epitomises MFCSS, but honestly...

The kid just signed a 3 year contract.

He clearly isn't taking anything for granted.

If he just expected for a 10-15 year career to happen, then it would be more cause for concern.

When someone asked why 3, he said he didn't want to get too arrogant and pretty much had to work for it.

Why would he have put the photo up if he was so devastated?

You are just paranoid

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
