THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

Featured Replies

Let's face it, the last 48 years have been punctuated by divisiveness and bad blood within the club. We had some limited success in the short periods during which we had stability at the top.

We have a board in place that served us well over the past 12 difficult months (and I believe the bad times started almost 12 months ago to the day with the Jurrah arrest in Alice Springs). The football department is also starting to show their worth.

I would like to see them get 12 stable months to show us what they can do and lift the club without the distractions we had in 2012.

Totally, & think we now need to let all dust settle for 2 years.

This year IMO will be about instilling a tenacious brand of footy & getting positions settled as wellas getting game time into a couple of young ones.

The 21+ yr olds will need to compete with others for regular games.

On ABC's Media Watch this week Jonathan Holmes informed us that the two Fairfax flagships are suffering a "remorseless slide in sales". According to the latest sales figures weekday sales have dropped by a frightening 14.5% in 12 months. The compacted size introduced this week isn't going to change things for the better IMO. Apparently, later in the year it's going to start charging for its apps and access to its website.

Imagine paying to read Caro?

The Age has always been an overrated rag popular with the left because they shared views, the quicker it disappears the better.

The HUN offers nothing more but it used to have a better football section, don't read it much now so I'm not sure what its like.

Say what you like about the 'Hun, it brought down a premier this week. Those 'secret tapes' were fatal.

Presumably, the coaches box tapes from the Bailey era haven't been recovered..

Mark Fine getting stuck into Wilson tonight.

Really getting stuck in. Bashing table mad.

Its glorious!!

I love it when he gets angry. What was he on about this time?

Mainly that she doesn't watch games.

And basically likes to crucify people and clubs.

That's the 2nd time Finey's bashed her. The last time he asked how a person could be a 'so called chief football writer' when she hasn't actually seen a game in years. Football writers should actually know what a kick or handball is. She's just a bin searcher and skip digger.

And to paraphrase an old sign - those who can't think, read the age; those who can't read look at the hun.

Love it - Can i use that ? "you're a bin searching skip digger"

Wilson has put far too many footy peoples noses out of joint to a point where she is now despised by nearly everybody.

The thing about Wilson, is she shows no love for football and tries to bringthe game down at every opportunity

Unfortunately Ted is a nice guy just a bad Premier, Napthine is a nice guy too so he probably won't last too long.

The Bailey tapes will surface at some point in time, just when we think its all over and we are free and clear.

If anyone has any doubt about the effects of whistle blowers on club investigations, it's worth taking note of what Jake Niall has to say in today's Age

There are crucial differences between Essendon and Cronulla that might explain why the powerful Bombers exude more confidence about their prospects.

One is that the Sharks had a whistleblower, in the form of their former trainer. The Bombers, as far as we know, do not have anyone spilling whatever beans sprouted at Windy Hill or at the botox clinic.

BLOOD IN THE WATER

Similarly, it's my understanding that Libba was heavily leaned upon when he spilled the beans on Carlton's tanking in 2007 and, of course Brock McLean has far more credibility than Brendan Fevola. That, and the hundreds of poker machines under the Blues' control that someone doesn't want to endanger.

If only we had some friends in high places on the AFL commission or in the media. Wouldn't it be great to have a journo with family connections to the club could keep bad news stories out of the limelight? Then again, if some of your friends aren't friends ...

Don't worry Robbie.

Big Gina will get rid of those lefties .

She's done a great job so far.

So has Teddy I thought .

Personally i couldn't defend the left or the right side of Politics (as you do).

They are all parasites not fit to lick my boots clean .

The populace is so stupid it doesn't matter anymore.

Let them eat sh!te as long as there are two different choices to pick from.(like the papers).

1) If she does it will be the only decent thing she's ever done.

2) Personally I don't care whether you do or not, so I'm not sure why you bothered telling me.

A. Because you're a boring conservative living in the fifties.

B. Because you feel the need to display it here.

Is that the best you can come up with?

Out of curiosity I used to read some of your posts because I couldn't work out if you were trying to be funny or you were just stupid; I've come to the conclusion you weren't trying to be funny.

Why don't you like her ?

Because of her unbridled greed, the more she has the more she wants and how she gets it doesn't matter. If she could mine Collins street and the War Memorial she would and if she could do it with cheap imported labour all the better.

I have no problem with free enterprise and capitalism but there is a point where it just becomes obscene.

She's a miner. She should want to mine everything she can.

I like her and I like others that create work and a thriving economy. I have no problem with her self-interest whatsoever. In fact, it's the essence of life.

Self interest is a great motivator, it's fantastic, but there are limits in my view and she exceeds them.

My major regret is that she seems to be a Liberal supporter, I'd rather they had nothing to do with her.

The jobs she wants to create are for workers from developing countries who are prepared to work for a pittance to help fatten her already full purse.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
