I don't think this is the case. WCE offered Lynch only one year, he has also struggled to cement a spot in their forward line. I think he is leaving for opportunity and length of contract, not $$$.

I agree.

How has he struggled to cement a spot? He's played 24 games in 2011 & 21 games in 2012

I think Gonzo is trying to say that Lynch would struggle to get a game in a full fit Weagles outfit

Kennedy, Darling, Nic Nat/Cox, Frenchman, etc plus the crumbing forwards and resting mids would make it hard for Lynch to fit in - Plus he's getting old the big Q stick

It supprises me that we havent targetted any of the big names, as i presumed that thats why we fundrasied for a 'warchest' & made room on our list by pushing out Green, Moloney (+ Rivers?).

What was their reason for not going after Tippet.

I get all the other ones, but Tippet would be a great fit. He is only 25 and he is a big bodied forward.

If we don't at least inquire about his price it's a joke. If he ends up at GC then we know money won out and that would [censored] me off, because we too can offer him buckets of cash plus the chance to play on the G every week.

I spoke to Tim Harrington at the Demolition Dinner and he said that they rang Tippett last year and he agreed to come over and talk to us mainly because of his respect for Craig. He then rang back a little later and said that he was sorry but he just didn't want to live in Melbourne and he said he wouldn't be coming over, it's as simple as that.

How things change in a year if the rumours are true! I have a sneaking suspision we are all over him. Lynch is probably to old where as tippett at 25 is ideal.

Well our friend seems to have had a change of heart.

Respect for Craig + 5 year deal worth $5mil* = happiness for all.

Bit like Cam Bruce, it was more about extending his time in the game than the money.

The trouble is he was struggling to get a game over there and you have to wonder if the game has passed him by.

I agree however where we're at I think it would have benefited us to have someone like him for a year or two until we can get someone else in (hopefully Hogan). Not gonna happen now though obviously.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
