Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!

15 out of 45 sounds about right. No room for passengers. Carry on.

I must admit I wasnt concerned one iota when such a number was mooted. I myself only have 31 of the current list still there next season ( possibly more as a wish than anything ) but If the broom sweeps...let it sweep !! :)

2012 was simply not acceptable however you look at it & the buck stops with the list.

we all seem to want wholesale change but many dont want to change much; go figure.

Many Shockers supporters were Filthy that Ross Lyon was appointed coach too.

Not that they would admit it now.

Neeld & co must be absolute Bastards right now in terms of the list. Any weakness must be exposed.

I could not agree more. A coaches main role is to get the most out of his players. What ever way you look at it Neeld does not have the ability to do this. He has lost the playing group. I have it on good authority that 15 of our 45 are investigating their options to leave, the exitist will take years of recruiting to repair, we are destined to the bottom 4 for at least another 3 years. Neeld has destroyed their confidence and thus the players ability. What a disaster Neeld is.

Neeld is the worst mistake our club has made since sacking Norm Smith. I have already put money on the Dees for the wooden spoon next year.

The board must fire him leave and leave Neil Craig in charge before more players leave. Who in their right mind would want to come and play for Melbourne.

I beg the board to fire Neeld.

Has he lost Jack Grimes or Jack Trengove? Mitch Clark? Colin Garland? Colin Sylvia? Sam Blease? Mark Jamar signed a 3 years contract half way through the year so you would think he is on board. Jeremy Howe signed too. Spose Neeld has lost him too

Don't understand the vitriol

Comedy gold! As i've said before when you wrote the same drivel get rid of the 15 who want to go - not Neeld.

I think you'll find the club is currently helping any player who wants achieve their aim. Good riddance. That will leaves 30 who want to be there. Replace the 15 who want out with 15 who are committed and bingo we're halfway there.

I wish a few DL posters would investigate their options to leave.

Money on the demons to win the spoon already huh? How about you and i have a side bet. I bet we won't. Loser quits Demonland (and promises not to come back under another name). You on (or are you all talk)?

no no no...Some Demonland posters are so unhappy with Nasher that we are begging the board to fire him. Isn't that the way it works?

Mate no need for personal insults. I watch whats going on, I think it through and have a strong opinion. I feel the mass exitis and poor performance of at least half our team under Neeld is a valid point for discussion. I am extremly concerned about what is going on.

In reality I accept that Neeld needs to be given to at least round 6 next year. It would also send a terrible message if we sacked him before this time. I just hope the board is already considering how and with who to exit him once the minimum time is up. This is my opinion.

Yet instead of discussion and debate many here simply want to close down conversation to me and other on here with a similar view. Perhaps if you let the conversation flow rather than calling names and closing down debate I would not need to say the same thing again or as you put it cut and paste.

The number of 15 comes from a well known football manager who looks after a number of Melbourne players who is a close friend. I am sure you understand why I can't name the manager. I ask you if what I say is true, does it change your view? A lot of talent wants out.

As for your bet offer: I took odds of $7 but I would have taken $4 so why would I take even money. I do have a more mature idea though.

If you don't want to read my threads. ........ don't read them. Pretty simple really.

News flash

More than half of our team has been performing poorly since they were drafted

Their year under Neeld was no different

That's why we haven't played finals since 2006

You ask for debate, yet you don't want to recognise the other side of the debate.

There has been a strong message from the core of list with re-signings.

There has been little else for those wanting out and not strong enough to take the next step.

As has been said and reported, Neeld and Co. (Craig included - so don't think it would be any different if he were to take over) stated we trained at about 40% capacity to their previous clubs (Collingwood, Adelaide, St Kilda)

The ones who don't accept and want to buckle down are being shown the door.

Put the dots together, it ain't Neeld

Ever considered that a large proportion of our list and many inside this club are just not up to it?

I have watched this club stumble and fall & realistically achieve fcuk all since 1971.

Enough is enough.

I share similar concerns, however for my own sanity i'm choosing to put them to one side until the end of the trade & draft period.

Until that time the worry and concern is based on rumour and inuendo. I hope we draft well and trade smart and end up with a list that doesnt look weeker on paper than 2012. If we end up with a couple of Monfries, Pearce & Burnes, things start to look ok IMO. Furthermore, i'm choosing to hope the poor performance of 1/2 the list is down to the fact that they arent up to it, not Neelds coaching.

This one cant be judged until mid next season.

GNF.

Youre harping on via a cut and paste. We heard it the first time and many of us dont subscribe to it.Youdont help your cause by repeating it ad nauseum.

As mentioned byanother you seem oblivious to the counter view.

You make a claim that15 might go.

I put it to you that thats a GOOD thing. Its probably the one thing about 3/4 of the forum members woud agree to. There HAS to be radical change to the playing list. Like it or not, for whatever reason or other the current lot arent going far.

I also share your concerns....and am happy you give them voice. I have a pit in my stomach when I think about whats going on.

I also know we have no choice now but to suck it up and see which direction it goes for a while longer.

Even if your right and half the list leave because they cant stand Neeld, then the others are right too......we may well be better off with a full reinvention.

Perhaps you have misunderstood me. Lets say it is true (ie 15 players want out). Does it change my view? Not one iota. If they want out, get out. Go to another club. Now. That leaves 30 blokes who want to be there.

Lets be clear: it is about the club not the players.

So your mate gets told by Paul Connors that some players want out.

Who?

Because Gerard Healy assured his audiences a few months ago that we wouldn't re-sign key youngsters that were out of contract.

And then we signed Jones, Howe, and Blease with the rest of the players being chaff.

I have heard that some of the players - the players one would hope - see Neeld and Misson and Craig as a revolution of higher standards and expectiations.

Maybe those 15 players that you think are being railroaded out deserve to be.

Maybe we would be a better club for it.

Maybe you should stop getting on here and hysterically calling for the removal of a coach and then immediately back away from the claim and say 'some time in the future' he should be removed.

Well some time in the future he will be removed but his legacy will be higher expectations and standards and that is not a bad legacy.

The counter argument is that Neeld is putting in place what has to be done (sorting the wheat from chaff and clearing out those not up to it)

No one is saying Neeld WILL win a flag, more so they're happier with tough approach he's taking (something we've needed for some time)

Those like GNF have book marked it as though Neeld WILL fail and don't want to give him the benefit of his contact

Pav kicked 6 interstate last night from 47 inside 50's carving up a backline with a potential 2012 AA backman and 2 previous AA backmen one allegedly the best full back of the modern era.

Pav kicked 2 on Frawley last week at home from 60 inside 50's.

Whilst limited rebound in 2012 Frawley was rarely beaten all year under immense fire.

Well said. Can't be helped that the ball is constantly being bombarded over and over again.

I feel the mass exitis and poor performance of at least half our team under Neeld is a valid point for discussion. I am extremly concerned about what is going on.

After Malthouse's first year at Collingwood when they won 5 games he delisted or traded 12 players. He delisted or traded another 6 after year two. That's 18 players he turned over in two years. They went on to play in 4 grand finals over the next 10 years.

You do realise that after a terrible 5 year period that judgment calls are made on mediocre players ? Or do you want more of the same ?

GNF - Can please name the 15 players?

I'm backing Neeld for the three years he's been given from the MFC to turn the Club around onfield and by that I trust most methods of how it goes about it. I thought the same of Bailey in his first couple of years until cracks started appear (even appear 186).

Back to my original question, can you please name the 15 players?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
