Monfries considers Demon move

I know its from Sports news first bla bla etc etc.

Discuss

hmm so we've already signed up an exciting small sized forward! surely with this news its monfries!? I did not see this coming.. but a very mouth watering prospect IMO!

I haven't really rated him at Essendon but he has his moments.. could be a big acquisition at the dees.

If there is any truth to the article, monfries would be a handy player in the forward line to apply some forward pressure - which we have been lacking.

Dan Pearce would be v handy too - beautiful left foot. both of a good age 25/26ish and a few games under their belt.

we'll still need a kpp though

I really rate Monfries as a smart mobile forward who is capable of presenting and taking a strong mark on the lead. I am not sure if he fell out of favour at the Bombers because of his lack of engine maybe, but I think he would be a very good acquisition at MFC.

You have got to be kidding me.

The guy would rather do his hair then lay a tackle........... PASS

Judging by the source it's probably the first he's heard of this.

thats gold :)

I would be very happy should Neeld et al be able to pull this one out of the hat.

SportsnewsFirst is to sports media what McDonald's is to food & dining and Fox FM is to music.

Cheap and tacky yet shamefully irresistible; but you will regret it over time.

A relevance is....compare him to what we currently have

NOOOOOOO been bagging him for years to my bombers mates! They are going to have a field day, I thought we wanted tough and hard players, the way this blokes acts for frees he should be on broadway not on the MCG!

It's a rumour on SNF...

And that article intimated that we have locked up a 'small forward' and Hagdorn is spitballing who it might be.

Might be Knights.

But again, it's a rumour on SNF.

Last small forward we got from bombers; gary moorcroft...how did that work out for us?

Even my mate who is refered to by all and sundry as 'bomber' calls him 'hollywood' monfries!

Weak choice and seems like buying games just because we have the spare cash like a packet of chewy at the supermarket cash register

yep..its SNF...and its Hagdorn...take it at face value most likely.

Still he was the first one I recollect to run hard with TS was all sign sealed delivered, way before it surfaced big time.

Not saying hes right, just he could be...lol

Hes only saying its under consideration, hes not calling it as done , not as I read it

The very poor choice that was Moorcroft (throw in Heffernan for that matter) is absolutely irrelevant to the current discussion....different players and more importantly very different footy departments at both clubs this time around.

Don't see why we would go after monfries when petterd can't get a game

maybe Monfries can kick and maybe Monfries can and will chase and provide defensive pressure and maybe Monfries doesn't 'sook off' if asked to do something by the coach that he 'doesn't like'! I would imagine if any of those KPIs didn't match Neeld's expectations then he would not be offered a contract.

theres nothing quite like the media putting 2 and 2 together and gettig 7 is there !!

Love this time of year . Rumours, goss, more rumours, hidden overlooked fact, more rumours , disinformation and occasionaly quip from the club.

Cant see the club saying boo until it needs to.

He's a spud who plays for free kicks. No way.

Are you intimating that there wouldn't be room for he and Lynden Dunn in the same team?

Id be wrapt if get Monfries and Pearce, hope fully one or two others as well, maybe Knights.

Experienced players who can use the ball is what we need, mix those with the youth we pick up in the draft, and its an injection of 5 or 6 new guys into the team, who will be wanting to prove themselves.

After landing Mitch Clark last year, i have faith in Neelds plans.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
