A stiff breeze.

If you listen you would hear that they played a lot better than that into the wind

Scorps seem to be hanging on by the skin of the teeth even with the breeze

Doesn't look good

When will Brent Moloney get subbed into the game???

Alarm bells for the Scorps with Werribee doing all the attacking now to take a lead of four points with goals scarce as hen's teeth in the windy conditions.

Three Qtr Time: Casey Scorpions 3.9.27 to Werribee Tigers 4.7.31

The Tigers got on top at the halfway mark of the quarter and have the wind in the last. Casey looks pretty lethargic and have their backs to the wall.

Leading stats: Couch, Magner 19, Bate, Clay, L Tynan 19, Gysberts 16.

The Scorpions kicked two goals in the first five minutes or so of the game and only one more for the remainder of the match. Very disappointing.

Semi Final next week @ Casey v Willy.

Nasher, the problem in every year since the start of the alignment has been the number of injuries at Melbourne. A few weeks ago there were about 15 or 16 AFL listed player available and that's now gone down to half that number, a situation not helped by rookie Kelvin Lawrence walking out on the Demons and Liam Jurrah not having his head into football and heading off to SA to be with his family. With Spencer no longer eligible and Jack Fitzpatrick rumored to be off for surgery, the Scorps will probably have no more than 6 or 7 AFL player for next week's game against Williamstown. To his credit Brett Lovett has persevered with bringing up young talent at the club so I wouldn't wipe them off yet!

I was at the game today and the wind was horrible making the game almost unbearable to watch. I cannot believe that the Casey Council has not planted any trees at the north side of the ground to break the wind.

Casey played dumb footy when they had the wind. Coach Brett Lovett gave them specific instructions at each break, depending on whether they were kicking with or against the wind and they continued to not allow for the wind on the defensive side of the ground. So many out-on-the-full or running out of bounds. Having said that, Werribee played better footy and outmarked Casey on many occasions.

Gysbert was marvellous in close but got caught a few times.

Sheehan was good at times.

Spencer was really good and was the only tall person to make an impact on the game. Can't believe I am typing this but he kicked really well today.

Lucas Cook ran all day but dropped a lot of one grab marks.

Couch is like an energiser battery - just keeps going.

Moloney was often tackled by two or three and looked disinterested in the 4th quarter

No. 68 for Werribee is a total tool. Was strutting around as if he had kicked a bag in an AFL final, and even stooped to mouthing off at Casey supporters over the fence.

Thanks for the updates KC. Sorry the day wasn't the one we were hoping for.

was it a hurricane ??

Was a painful game to watch !! Casey were not terribly bright today .... Silly footy. Run and spread non existent.

I'm going to make a bold call here and say Jordan Gysberts won't be in a MFC jumper next year!! Highly skilled but no hunger or desire. One hell of a lazy footballer ..... Something tells me a few top 20 picks will be looking for a new home.

We do not even need to consider them in our selection process-although it's nice that you have .

Casey is getting a lot out of the relationship already .

We can be mean to her and use her how we like.

and dump her if she starts to get annoying .

Hmmm, & dump a lot of supporters along with that attitude.

Many people put in a lot of effort & emotion getting to see the Casey games & our boys play. Pulling players out at the serious end for no major gain, but a Major disturbance to the Casey team & all who are committed to them & the cause is very destructive, & reflects badly on our club.

I went out there today, and it was a dull game. It was like kick to kick from HF to HB along the far wing. We couldn't take a mark inside 50 to save ourselves. Moloney looked bored, and I think it was Magner who at one stage in the last quarter yelled out at him to fire up.

It was windy, but not that windy.

Don't think I can be bothered driving out there again next week, but if we can get over the line then we'll be at Port Melbourne the following week.

If you asked Fitzpatrick and Tynan whether they'd rather play VFL or have a trip with the boys over to Perth to play AFL footy, i'd be disappointed if they said they wanted to play VFL. They got decent replacements in Moloney, Couch, Magner, etc for this finals game when a lot of them had been playing AFL all year.

Will Magner stay a Demon? Seems to have had a great game.

I made the journey out to Casey today, and couldn't believe just how windy it was.

Given the conditions, both teams played pretty dumb footy. Constantly trying to kick long down the boundary with the wind blowing diagonally across the ground. Never seen so many out on the fulls.

I liked Gysberts today. Gets his hands on it around the stoppages and has reasonably clean hands.

Jake Spencer had a good game. I am not his biggest fan, but he took a couple of really nice contested marks and has a thumping kick on him. Not sure why he ever tries to chip it short.

Bate looked slow even by his own lofty standards.

Couch and Magner played the way they always play.

Cook presented well at times but just didn't seem to be able to really get into the game and have an impact. Took a beautiful, contested, pack mark right in front of me. He is big/tall and when or if he ever gets some real meat on him he will be a monster.

Moloney should have dominated and I just can't begin to tell you how big a let down his game was today. I don't ever go down to watch Casey and was really interested to see how he went about his business. But it was a really uninspiring game from Brent today. In his defence, his AFL season is over and his career at Melbourne could well be over also. Cannot blame him for wanting to be anywhere other than Casey Fields.

Troy Davies tried hard but got beaten by McKinley I think it was.

He's a rookie so pretty sure he can't be traded and shouldn't be delisted.

How do you think Sheahan went today?

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
