It's become more a discussion point later in the season because he's actually talking about the avg. age & games we are putitng out each week. With players like Davey, Jamar, Moloney, Bate, Clark, Bartram on the sidelines we have become younger and less experienced. Not sure about Adelaide's figures but I reckon this is where it's at.

This isn't to condone performance from my poiint of view though, we should still have walloped GWS on the weekend.

Also we had 29 scoring shots to 14 in a wind that would have had Haw or Coll or Geel kicking all over the place....I'll take the win and not whingh....

Didn't the players get put through the wringer by the cycling coach Charlie Walsh during the week?

I was told that they were trained so hard that they were exhausted when they finished; that could be one reason we didn't run the game out.

Have to admit, I'm getting a little bit tired of the average age/games defense. He mentions it every presser.

The average age of our playing list is 22 yrs 342 days. Adelaide is next in line at 23 yrs 44 days and averaging 5 less games, and they're going okay...

I realise it comes into the big picture but the incessant referral to it is grating on me.

As Diesal has said his actual comparison each week is in regards to players fielded each week and average games. Adelaide as a whole have avg age/games played similar as others have posted but Neeld comparison is regards to our opposition on the day. If we fielded the same team as Adelaide and they did the same this next round the avg games played for each of the fielded teams would be 69 Dees compared to 97 Crows.

30 games may not seem a lot but if you look at a player like Patrick Dangerfield who as of last round had played 84 Games (starting in 08) Compared with Jack Trengove 57 (starting in 2010) it makes a difference. It is equivalent to 2 pre-seasons and a season and a bit of experience.

I am getting tired of the constant referencing to it also but when people ask the coach what happened out there its actually a very good point. His (former) mentor mentioned it in his commentary on the weekend also.

As an aside when comparing Patrick Dangerfield and Jack Trengove interesting Patrick only played 2 games in his first year and then played majority of the next 3 before what everyone says is his break out year. Capt Jack has had 3 steady seasons of playing a majority of the season (19+ Games) So I predict he should be about right round 3 2013 lol.

Really like the language Neeld has been using of late. Using 'us', 'we', 'our club' all the time whereas it was often 'they', 'the club' etc. I can hear the cynics say it is media training but the shift in language seems heartfelt to me.

I take it as a sign that Neeld has moved from 'embracing the job' to 'embracing the club'; a significant shift.

He is now saying only positive things in public about individual players; another shift from early in the year. This can only do wonders for player confidence and makes it harder for journos to have cheap shots at players...think Jack Watts...
