This reply about Dunn gave me a chuckle.

He is AA but I honestly think that our recruiting resources should focus on what we need, and thats Mids Mids and maybe a link up player.

I really do not think its worth the effort having meetings and trying to negotiate for out of contract defenders. Our defense is fine, especially now with young Tom Mac

Agree that mids are our most pressing need, but it doesn't mean we can't improve other areas too... I'm sure we can get more than one trade done if we need to

Really? That's our criteria is it?

Great player, wouldn't want to pay overs for him, but it'd free up Garland to stay forward which might be an option if there's no go with Cloke.

People are a bit too wishful with the trades they're expecting and far too dismissive of what we are actually capable of getting.

He is far from a great player.

He doesn't defend for a start.

And his kick it long to nothing style would fit right in with us. I'd rather see less of that, not more.

Another example of a Collingwood player being overrated, because he plays for Collingwood.

There's a reason knowledgeable Pies fans would rather O'brien be squeazed out before anyone else.

Just as a side issue.... anyone see the irony of a player like Harry O'Brien leaving to go to another club because of money? with his selfless, non-materialistic lifestyle?

I can't see it happening, the Pies are gonna be stuck with him until they force him out ;)

And is a premiership player and an all-australian...

Would love Harry O'brien at the Dees love his dash of Half Back, would enable Grimes to Play more in the middle. Not sure whats happening with the Cloke saga if he definatley did not want to come to us he would of signed, i reckon they thinking hard about 6-7 year deal.

Beams has been at a club that has the money and therefore coaching staff and facilities etc. to develop young players quite well, something Melbourne hasn't been doing too well. The fact that he has already been developed by a club like Collingwood makes him much more valuable. He's only 22 and would be a perfect addition to our midfield. To be perfectly honest I would much rather pay the money for him than Cloke at the moment. With Beams and Viney teaming up in the middle along with other's like Trengove, Jones and even Grimes and McKenzie, we would have an extremely bright looking midfield. But of course Beams is going to be one of the last players Collingwood would let go, Eddie will start trying to declare war on us and we'll never hear the end of it.

the way we are going Harry O would be too busy defending and not running off half back. FWIW when he has to defend I don't think he does a great job.

With beams signing or close to it with pies how the hell are they going to get cloke to his 7-9 hundred thousand a year?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
