i remember last year we chased this bloke pretty hard to the point he turned down a big offer from us. now after watching him play this year and just reading his herald sun article today its fair to say thank we didn't pick him up!! he is massively overated and has only kicked 4 goals this year.. jared rivers has already kicked more then him. as much as it was sad about mitchs injury and whos been a revelation to us im glad the department picked a winner here! could you imagine the out out cry if Dawes was playing for us this year like he is now..!?

I was absolutely stoked when I heard we landed Mitch Clark. Thought at the time, this is a simply mammoth get - particularly given the circumstances in which we managed to sign him.

Little did I know then just how good he would be. I reckon he's been the best player we've recruited in decades (possible apologies to Jeff White).

Quite simply, it is a massive relief that Chris Dawes rejected us beforehand.

I've never been a fan of Dawes...very overrated in my opinion. When he had his best season and kicked 30 odd goals, he was receiving the ball from the likes of Swan, Pendlebury, Didak, etc., and he was taking the oppositions 2nd best back (Cloke took the first). I think Collingwood will be in serious trouble if they lose Cloke and have to rely on this guy to be their #1 FF option.

Well, I was one of those who thought he would be a good get... thankfully we didn't, but I suppose we could only judge him on his form at that time.

He would've stunk it up for us. Dodged one there.

Funnily enough, Dawes is probably thinking something along similar lines :-)

No, he was rated because at that time we were in need of a big forward who could score goals as well as crash packs and create opportunities for our other forwards...last year he was a good foil for Cloke, kicking 30 goals and was involved in a lot of good plays - you don't get 20 games in a side like Collingwood if you're not performing.

seconded....he is just not in very good form at the moment, but still doing his role...Buckley is like Neeld who are both like Malthouse, he wouldn't be in the side if Buckely did not want him to be

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
