What about 4&12 for 7?

Nope. I'm trying to work out how we got Clark for 12, but need to pay more than that for Boak.

No way would I want to use 4 and 12 on Boak. Total over-payment.

No way should pick 4 be on the table at all.

No way should pick 4 be on the table at all.

Anything should be on the table for the RIGHT price.

We've got enough "developing" high draft picks, I feel like we'll always be planing ahead for a Grand Final 5 years away...

Dont rate him too high! They can keep him. Pick 78?

We need players who can run and carry. Cotchin & Judd mould. + Hill.

Pick 4 + player too GWS for Jack Martin (U/17)

or

Pick 12 + player too Collingwood for Dayne Beams

Personally I'd rather Beams than Boak, maybe because with Neeld, Brown etc we may have more of a chance of getting him, maybe because I just like him as a player.

For the record, I wasn't suggesting Pick 4 for Boak, I was suggesting that we trade it for the RIGHT price should it come up.

I also like the idea of making a play for Beams. I think he might be cheaper than Boak, and his tattoos would also fit in nicely with Jones, Clark, and (should he choose to remain a Demon) Moloney.

Beams is a better player than Boak and would fit better into the side going forward.

Beams has a touch of outside class about him, but his stocks are rapidly rising by the week

and should he decide to leave - by the time 2012 is out, he will come at a cost, he an AA lock one would think.

Boaks tipped to stay at Port

Geelong mission to lure Boaks seems to have come up empty. Probably going to stay at Port.

Next !!!

Port probably told him we'll trade you to MFC.

You have hit it right on the head old55

Until we show some improvement it is very doubtful guys like Boak will want to come to the MFC.

If you have to choose between the MFC, GWS, GCS or Port you might as well stay at Port

Gee..... we've already got the footy world affraid of us !!!

One reason is because we can. Trade is not like a normal marketplace - if our 1st pick last year had been 4 then that's what we would've needed to use in the Clark deal, we would've got something back, but that's what would have happened.

I don't see why a guy like Boak wouldn't come to MFC? It's not like his leaving a premiership contender, and he'd be coming home and getting tons of $$$...

We got Clark didn't we? And he wasn't even thinking about coming to Melbourne...

But Clark was incredibly keen to leave the Lions - Boak hasn't even made the leap to leave PA yet...

We can get in the fight when he has made the mental leap to leave PA.

surprised Neeld and co hasn't done what Geelong did and paid Boak a visit.

Maybe the media is hyping up MFC's interest alott more then what it actually is.

I am more surprised that Geelong did what they did.

I am not that comfortable with it.

Teams meeting with opposition players in season with players in tow.

Bad taste.

I'm glad they didn't do that, massively unprofessional, how did you feel about Scully signing with GWS while still with us?

Well Neeld didn't hesitate to head up to brisbane with short notice and stay in a cheap hotel to convince the guy but they havn't bothered taking a trip to Adelaide to do the same (Yes i know we are still in season though if they were desperate enough they would've done it to stop him from signing anything)

Geelong are in big trouble and I have no idea why they are talking to him, they don't have anything to offer Port. I cannot think of any potential trade scenario, except maybe Stringer + 2nd round pick for Boak

I reckon in this case where there's smoke there's fire... He can't do or say anything during the season other than what he's expected to.

I can smell a Darwin Victory & a 15th Finish @ the season End.

Port finishing 16th & a shot @ Grundy/Toumpas.

Do you think theyll tank? we are tired and injured. They still also have a game against GWS and are 2 games ahead of us on the ladder

The 'within season' thing is a huge caveat for me.

In my mind, players should be loyal to their clubs for 11 months of the year and loyal to themselves in October.

Geelong shouldn't have done it, and Boak shouldn't have agreed.

My guess is Tom Petroro laid it down crystal clear to other suitors: He's going "home" or he stays put.

Port plays hard ball: You can't have your cake and eat it too, sport.

Boak's going to come out of this worse off than anyone else, I suspect.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
