Who do you want to see blooded or in the side by seasons end?

For me there are 3 blokes I desperately want playing in the latter part of the year.

The first one is Strauss. I have really high hopes for this kid. Loved the role he played down back last year prior to his injury. Is combative, reads the play well and his kicking is certainly in the elite category. If we can get the ball in his hands we will be able to utilise the switch more effectively and improve on our continuing problem with kick outs and kicking through or over good forward presses (eg pies, wce)

Second is Gysberts. I think this one will be a star. Have always been a big wrap for his work in close and if he can put on some weight I think he could become one of the best clearance players in the comp! Has an incredible ability to extract the ball at stoppages, knows how to find plenty of the footy and can get a bit of the pill on the outside as well which could be valuable for us.

The final one is cook. I'm not sure if he will make it as an afl player but surely a no 12 draft pick has some ability! Would be good to see him get some game time and some confidence at afl level.

Thoughts????

I know Magner is mature aged and a hard body, but I think he may need another rest in a month or so. Its a long season for a first yearer

I wonder if any other players will get a further rest at some point, eg T McDonald.

Gysberts and Strauss would hardly be "blooding" which is, I thought, what this thread was about

Would like to see what Cook, Couch and Davis could do at senior level sometime this year

If you read the thread topic fully you will also notice at the end of it "or in the side by seasons end".....

Gysberts is a star in the making, has the best hands in the club.

Obvious replacement for a struggling moloney.

And I'd rather see petterd in the forward line than Magner

Another rest? He hasn't had one yet ... played all 12 games. He's a fit, hard body. I don't think he's in the same category as a normal first-year player.

Some of this 'rest' stuff is piffle. You might need a 'rest' if your body is getting sore, or knocked up and bruised. But you don't necessarily need a rest just from the physical workload ... the effects of training and play are cumulative and you just keep getting fitter and better. A 'rest' can be negative.

Gysberts and Strauss to get 5 - 8 games each.

Lucas Cook if Jurrah can't get fit

Troy Davis has already earned a callup and I can't understand why he hasn't got a run yet.

I think he meant rest as in "had the week off with the bye".

I will be happy if Strauss gets through the rest of the year at Casey injury free. His 2013 preseason starts now.

Bail is a concern. did anyone read the match review in the age? He has been unable to pass concussion tests since the blues game!

Scary stuff.

Would love to see Cook get one or two games at the end of the ebd of the season

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
